Description This was all sorts of interesting, for assorted reasons.

for starters, I've had a few comments from assorted sources that my work tends to look better done by hand on paper rather than via tablet and PC. Thus, I tried to combine the two for the first time in... a long time... by importing the sketch I put up a week or so back into Manga Studio, and inking it there.

I found the line width adjustment tool thing, which is neat, and learned all sorts of other new things, because after seeing an actual promo box for MS3EX at Fry's, I wondered how the hell they colored anything that well in something with the apparent prowess of Windows 98 Paint. I then found the blur, color blend, burn and dodge tools. I don't particularly care for shading via burn and dodge, but MS's is pretty lax compared to some I've used.

This is also a new computer, with a smaller resolution (like half what I'm used to), and a giant freakin' file (like double what I'm used to, this is a 50% export if you full view at 300 dpi, Manga Studio goes native 600).

I'm fairly happy with the result. I can't say if it's faster or slower than just using Painter, but it's certainly a different look. I kinda just threw the background in since in the sketch all that existed was the stump Fiena had granted her "mother" for a chair.

So it was a fun experiment. Feedback on it is appreciated as such, as there's really no harm no foul here. Mainly doinking and trying to bring the redesign to a more finished looking work than the sketch was.

Will slather this all over the interwebs later when I shouldn't be in bed.

Manga Studio EX 4, some number of hours or other, I don't really pay attention usually.

The feel is and always has been better when you draw on paper. IMO, one of the best pieces ive seen from you in quite a while. I'm not saying it's gone to crap since you went to tablet, but it's different and I have always prefered your "by hand" work. Obvisously, and understandibly, coloring sucks by hand, but thats where the computer comes into play.
