[Mistrusting] [Versatile] [Spiteful] [Crafty] [Independent]
Kiki is reserved around people, but her seemingly shy disposition hides something sinister. She is a skilled thief and is completely unrepentant. She does not care what consequences she faces, as long as she can steal, she will. Though all she seems to steal are berries and various shiny objects, she prides herself on having sticky fingers. As an orphan, she has been forced to become incredibly independent, and is quite skilled in many things, such as cooking, sewing, and foraging. She does not like to be around people, especially not kids her age. She rarely trusts people, and decidedly dislikes most upon a first meeting. If she feels she is wronged, she becomes incredibly spiteful and will go out of her way to make that person's life miserable. She takes great joy in seeing the misery of others.
However, for all her negative traits, there is still some good in her. She is incredibly versatile and can handle just about any situation she's thrown into (though she is most used to figuring out how to get herself out of trouble). Her sewing skills are second to none, and she can mend just about any garment with enough time, regardless of how badly torn or damaged it is. She is quick on her feet and easily comes up with solutions to any sticky situation she gets into. She isn't bad in a fight either, but she doesn't fight battles she knows she can't win.History:
Kiki has very few memories of her early life. Her first vivid memory of her parents is the day they abandoned her at age seven. They left her after they lured her into a forest to "collect berries". She spent that night sobbing into her dirty, ragged dress. She has yet to see her parents since that day.
She survived by eating the wild berries in the forest and taking shelter in the hollows of trees. However, she was unable to fill herself up on berries alone, and she was too small to hunt anything. When a caravan stopped in a clearing next to the edge of the forest, Kiki stole for the first time. She snatched up all of the food she could carry while the owners of the caravan slept. As the weeks went on, Kiki stole from any caravan that happened to stop by the forest. It became apparent that the only way she'd be able to keep living is if she stole from unsuspecting people. Months passed, and soon enough, Kiki was strong and smart enough to take more and more things from the caravans. Instead of only taking what she needed, she took sets of clothes, jewelry, food, and whatever else she deemed valuable. She had stashed all her excess loot in a tree hollow, creating her own little nest. This went on for a year.
When she was eight, a whole slew of caravans stopped next to the edge of the forest. She had planned the heist of a lifetime, but she was caught mid-thieving. She had been snatched up and brought before the leader of the tribe, all while she desperately tried to escape. The tribe leader, upon seeing that the thief was a mere child, asked her who was telling her to steal. When she replied that she stole because she had to, he realized that the child was likely homeless. Further questioning revealed Kiki's tragic past, and the leader decided to give her a place in the tribe. She was adopted by the nanny of the tribe, but Kiki was largely unhappy with this turn of events.
Kiki became known as a thief and a troublemaker. She refused to get along with the other children, and was a scourge on the adults. Most parents refused to let their children interact with Kiki. Anyone foolish enough to show her kindness found their belongings in her hands. Though the adults tried many different methods of punishment, Kiki was completely unrepentant. She continued to make people as miserable as her.
When it came time for her to begin an apprenticeship, Tough Love, her nanny, pushed her into the crafter's hands to try and give her a more positive outlet for her obvious anger. Though now she is more subtle with her mischief, Kiki is still as crafty and cunning as ever.Trivia:
- The dress she wears is the same one she was abandoned in. She has patched it and altered it throughout the years to fit her, and adamantly refuses to wear anything else. She will not allow anyone but herself to wash it.
- She has dabbled in voodoo. Though she has been unsuccessful thus far, she is undeterred and keeps at it.
- She spends a lot of time alone. Most of it is spent sewing or plotting to steal something.
