Description
Appalachiosaurus was discovered in USA'a Appalachian mountain region- Montgomery County, Alabama, but Appalachia was also the name of the island continent that lay east of the Western Interior Seaway in the Cretaceous. The specimen found was the most complete theropod known from the eastern United States. Fully grown adults would have bigger than 23 feet in length. It was part of the albertosaurinae sub-family of Tyrannosauridae, including Gorgosaurus and Albertosaurus.Before Appalachiosaurus' emergence, tyrannosaurs were only known from about 7 million years later, living in the western United States.
