The last thing Bough expected to find in the desert was an egg.
He was sure it was a hallucination for a few seconds, until he placed a paw on the shell, feeling it was very, very real. And it was hot. No egg would be able to survive at this temperature- he needed to cool it down. He needed water. Bough realised an oasis was nearby- perfect to cool off. His glands glowed blue as he brought cool water from the bottom of the pool, forming a ring around it. Once it had reached a more normal temperature, his magic glands switched from blue to green, looking for a heartbeat.
Don't be dead, little one- *please * don't be dead- He began to panic, pressing the egg to his ear to hear something, anything.

There.
A tiny, yet healthy heartbeat, echoing from the inside. The egg was alive. Bough let out a sigh of relief and flopped in the sand, shading the egg with a wing. Cheeto made his way out from his owner's ruff- joined by a little friend. A beeb which matched the colours of the egg, wearing a dainty little hat. Trust Cheeto to find the second oddest thing Bough had seen today. He laughed, before moving under the shade of a palm tree. He held the egg close to his chest- sensing the little wyngling squirming slightly inside it's shell. His heart swelled a bit.
Don't worry, little one. You're safe now- you're with papa. And he's gonna make sure you survive.
