I like the idea of reducing her body size to something more manageable for her.  The shorter legs would give her better jumping capabilities.  I can understand why she has the carapace on her arms and claws on her fingers as a defensive means for her kind.  And the abdomen design could have references to a matriarchal religious background.  Just random thoughts from my perspective.
