As a physicist, I've always found the concept of entropy "sublime"([link] (philosophy))
Therefore, seeing Discord as the incarnation of the Second Law of Thermodynamics, I have always believed that he was the first existence (Ex Nihilo Chaos Fit/Out of nothing emerges chaos), and shall be the last existence. He is the most powerfoul of all, and can never be destroyed.
However, Discord must be fought against, else there is no harmony. It's just that this battle for harmony is doomed to fail one day.

By the way, unlike the critique you received, I understand perfectly why your rain is a muddy brown... or rather, why it is a chocolate brown. Also, this being Discord, should the backgrounds really NOT clash with each other in color? I'd argue that whatever may have been lost in technique was done so to the effect of polishing the vision and impact of the scene... which is, of course, that chaos is about to ensue!

Indeed-- I used color blending on grayscale. It gave me sharply contrasting colors, and quite saturated by comparison, but given the theme of chaos I think it works quite well. :v

That is a very good point. Discord's a pretty smart cookie for knowing that.
While we and all the ponies are trying to fix everything that's out of place, Discord easily puts everything out of order with just a snap of his fingers, or as Discord would probably say "let nature take its course". Really tempting...
