I try to make it look like the ones from the show and then add a little more onto it C:

It's probably because you didn't overdo the mane so much as they did in the show. The added colors look nice together, although are baybe a little too distracting. Maybe you should've made them a little brighter and try to blend them with the mane a bit more? Just a suggestion.
