Description
The official map of Tethys has a lot of craters and shadows, which makes rendering of Tethys difficult. Thus I made this albedo map. This albedo map is primarily made from six low-phase images of Tethys, specially chosen for the lack of shadows. After this, I combined it with a VIMS albedo map from Filacchione et al. (2018) (www.researchgate.net/publicati… ).
Finally, any gaps in the maps (such as near the poles) were filled with the official map, but with the contrast lowered to mask out shadows. This resulted in a low-quality and blurry albedo map of Tethys.
In order to increase the resolution, I selectively removed the shadows from the official map of Tethys and overlaid the remaining albedo features on this map. I'm not exactly sure how contrastive these features should be, and I put a rather low contrast here. Maybe it should be higher, I'm not sure.
Finally, color was added using FarGetaNik's processing of the map. This was also the source for the brightness, but it appears that FarGetaNik's method of gamma correction makes the objects too dark, and according to Askaniy the map should be brighter. I didn't change it but it's quite easy to adjust the brightness to your liking.
