In the photograph, the flowers have just bloomed, with possibly more to come. For now the flowers seem fragile, transparent, which perhaps symbolises new beginnings. The flowers' petals are tinged with red,a colour normally associated with blood and life, which may symbolise a slow but steady adaptation to the new beginning.
Kyoto is the old capital of Japan, and hence this may symbolise the embracing of the past.
That this was posted as a birthday post factors in as a celebration of the start of a new year.
(I hope I didn't read too much into this.. ^_^"'
Simply put, this is a beautiful yet simple picture, and its meaning only calls for further appreciation.

Gorgeous photo Jingna! Happy Birthday! This surely seems to fit your description, the flowers are so fragile and beautiful looking, a new chapter. Much different than what your normally submit, but as a fellow photographer, I normally shoot plants and I love seeing such an expressive artists such as yourself, use plants in such an emotional way. Beautiful work, and I love the highlights of white in the picture that work so well with the white frame.
