I been playing smite since closed beta, and when i seen this i was like "Let the fan-fictions RISE". When i finished reading this made me understood who i was playing with and against a bit more. I hope you can make a volume two or something, because man this is awesome. And oh boy i thought at the start of this i thought some of them were lesbians with eachother or something like Athena and Aphrodite, or Neith and Isis, but that is my dirty mind . Anyways hope you make more of this and keep doing what you are doing >

Interesting thoughts! Thank you so much for sharing!
To make one thing pretty clear, since a lot of people seem to get confused at this fact: The project of writing a story for the SMITE comics did started out as just simply writing fan-fiction. And I did have some shipping here and there. BUT the moment I wanted to turn the stories into a comic, I told myself that I'm not going to do this for the sake of shipping and fan-fiction. Those elements can stay in my mind. If I want to draw a comic of this game, I want to put important life lessons into it. Lessons from my personal life experience as well as other people's stories that inspired wisdom and success. And because of that, I try to remove a lot of my old shipping images, so that people won't mix the comics with the separated shipping images. I stopped just writing about fan-fiction, and started to do research about household abuse, psychological information, human interaction; and then drawing a connection to the various mythology they have in the game. The result is what you read in the comics.
I have after-comic posts on my tumblr about some of the different character settings of the story, and some of the thought process of how I imagined the story to turn out as well as why I designed them that way. ( Freya | Hel | Isis | NuWa | Athena | Nemesis | Chronos, Janus, Thanatos | Neith )
As for the second volume, I am trying really hard to reach the goal on Patreon . It's slow, but I hope we'll get there some day. I already have some stuff written for it.
Thank you again for reading the comic, and thank you for sharing your thoughts on the comic. I truly appreciate it.

Holy shit, that was a ride. Kinda sad that it's over now.
Who's the guy on the left? I don't recognize him.
As an aspiring author, I feel compelled to leave my own critique of the overall thing. So here goes.
Artistically, I can't say anything, because I can't draw to save my life. I think it's good though, for what that's worth.
Story-wise, it's still really good. I'm aware that you couldn't use the whole story, and that there's probably more detail in the unused scripts, but I can only critique what I've seen. However, there are some things I feel you could improve. For example, after the "Shadow-Team" is introduced, the "Official" team kind of gets relegated to comedic duty up until the end, with Nu Wa, Nemesis and Ananke taking up the focus. Also, in the case of the Shadow-Team, only Nu Wa and Nemesis got any real attention, with Xbalanque and the others going unnoticed until they're needed. We never learn how Ananke recruited them, or what their motivations are (except for Thanatos, of course). Chronos and Janus are also kind of largely unexplained. Chronos doesn't want to get involved with SMITE because (paraphrased quote, I don't remember if it's the exact line) "They're acting like mortals" but does he know that Nox was responsible? If not, did Ananke (I presume she did because of the whole fate thing)? And if so, couldn't she have just approached Nox directly and healed her then (I'm well aware that Ananke probably did the best thing she could have, I'm just the kind of person who favors the straightforward path above all else - it's something that resonates in my own characters, as well). Why does Janus stay out of it just because Chronos says to? Is Chronos his (Janus') boss? Why does Loki come back to help in the final fight?
With those critiques/questions out of the way, it's time for some compliments. The story is absolutely good (unanswered questions aside). The pacing, character interaction and dialogue is excellent, and the characters' personalities (if sometimes exaggerated for dramatic/comedic effect, as far as my opinion goes) are very likable. The characters who do have their motivations revealed are all largely justified in their actions (except for Chang'e, the Mayans and the Hindus who, as far as I can tell, are kind of just being assholes), which helps to make them relatable.
So... yeah. It's kind of weird that I have more critiques than compliments, but I did honestly enjoy going through the story. I think it's just easier to compliment people with less words than it takes to leave/explain critiques. Anyway, good job!

Zennore In reply to Kuroyami-Fukaikuro [2015-06-01 06:49:08 +0000 UTC]
First off, THANK YOU for your critique on my story. People like you come rare. And I appreciate every word you say. I've had people who act as if they are critiquing, but when in fact, they are trying to express how they don't like the fact that their favorite character is the BAD GUY of a story; or the fact that they just wanted spoilers, and is stressing me to give them through explanation.
After the "Shadow-Team" is introduced, the "Official" team kind of gets relegated to comedic duty up until the end, with Nu Wa, Nemesis and Ananke taking up the focus.Yeah, sadly. The whole story was progressing in different angles and perspectives. And when Age (my other writer) and I had to choose which part of all of these stories would be the most interesting to read about, it ended up with NuWa, Nemesis, and Ananke. While other teammates had a bit of improvements and breakthroughs on their own, it was simply not as fun enough to be included. I personally think that if I extended the story, or even just slowed down the pace of the story and got more into the details in a more balanced manner (like covering each character a bit), then it wouldn't have seen so one-sided in perspective.
In the case of the Shadow-Team, only Nu Wa and Nemesis got any real attention, with Xbalanque and the others going unnoticed until they're needed. Yes. You have no idea how sad I was about them being almost ignored in the comic. There's so much I can cover about them, but I simply didn't have much time. A lot of things weren't explain. As well as Janus and Chronos.
Chronos doesn't want to get involved with SMITE because (paraphrased quote, I don't remember if it's the exact line) "They're acting like mortals" but does he know that Nox was responsible? If not, did Ananke (I presume she did because of the whole fate thing)?Well, there's this, but I'm sure that doesn't help much.
Ananke knows. But it's hard to stop her. You can't help someone who isn't willing to help themselves or knowledge that they need help. And that's why Ananke never approached her. In the end, Ananke realized that the ONLY way for her to get close enough and stay still long enough is for her to get stabbed in the heart. So she let it happen. Did she want to face that and take the pain? Nah. So for a looooong time, she tried so many alternate paths and methods. Which made Chronos really angry and upset multiple times. But in the end, she knew she had to, and faced it.
Why does Janus stay out of it just because Chronos says to? Is Chronos his (Janus') boss?Yes, in a sense. Janus is the representation of "Beginning and End" which isn't existing if there was no "Time". So If Chronos dies, you can say that Janus automatically doesn't exist/dies.
Why does Loki come back to help in the final fight? This is another part where I fail to balance out the amount of info that was given in this comic. I apologize. I'm still learning on how to make a good story. But basically. The original Norse mythology, from my understanding, was that Loki is a trickster. But never a bad guy. In fact, he was always the one who fixes other people's problems. He was considered the jester god who made everyone happy and laugh. But it was more near the later times, due to cultural clashing, did the people see Loki as a somewhat evil God. This is why you rarely see the Loki in my story ever kill, despite in the game, he is all about killing. (Of course, the american comics totally boosted the wrong information about Thor and Loki, too. But that's besides the point.) Loki left the Norse pantheon in the beginning because he thought that there's nothing he can help here. Everyone is too stubborn to see the truth, and blames him for everything. And he is tired of it. However, when he saw the opportunity to do something right, he came back. He never forgotten his roots, he doesn't really crave for revenge for being mistreated for blamed. He just wants the best for everyone, even if it means that he needs to remove himself out of their lives.
Thank you for all the compliments and extremely fair critiques, Seriously. At one point, I thought to myself "I claim to be okay with critiques, but so much as come my way. Am I not as open minded as I claimed?" And you made me feel SO much better on that subject, because I had no problem reading what you have to say. I don't feel attacked, offended or insulted in any way, and thus, I don't need to be aggressive, I don't need to be defensive. And I'm able to talk to you about this in a very calm and happy manner. So thank you so much again! I appreciate it!
If you'd like to know a bit more than what is displayed in the comic, there are two sources that I can link you to: one is the SMITE comic FAQ , and the other are the various blog posts I did for the separate characters. Again, I couldn't make it for all of the characters, but it more or less covers a bit more than what the comic itself showed. Freya | Hel | Isis | NuWa | Athena | Chronos, Janus and Thanatos | Neith/Ananke Those posts have unused script, alternate version, as well as the spoilers for a second volume of SMITE comics (even though I don't think I want to do it anymore lol The pressure of pleasing everyone is irritating. Like I said, not everyone is as fair in critique as you are)

Thank you for taking time out of your day to respond, as well as going out of your way to explain what you could. It's interesting to note your interpretation of Loki, since it strays from what he's normally seen as.
Once again, good job! I pleasantly anticipate what you have in store for the future.

Well if you'd like to know, I am currently working on two things. 1. Pencils and Erasers . A fan animation about the childhood of Carmen Sandiego and Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus and 2. Tales of Dikuda . This one is more text-based than most of my other projects. But it's a personal project of mine that I want to make since I was 4. XD This projects gets more updates than the PnE project, because text is easier. XD
