“DAMN EET!!!” Jacov pounds the rock wall that Kiaran had shadow jumped them through. “HANOI!! VE HAVE TO GIT BECK THERE!!!”The snake, sitting nearby, is hurriedly tapping on his datapad. “I know, Jacov!! We just need a mode of transport…”
Jacov starts forging weapons nervously. “Kiaran vill die if ve don’t return!!”
Hanoi looks up at Jacov. “Calm down… I’m working as hard as I can… Unfortunately, Kittim is almost inaccessible to all but the most experienced sailors… We’re stuck here…”
Jacov suddenly roars as his halo flares. The bars of metal in his bandolier quickly turn red hot and ooze to the ground in a pile of slag at the bear’s feet. “KIARAN!!! VHY VON’T YOU LET US DIE VITH YOU, SON OF BEETCH!!!”

From atop one of the buildings in central Margate, Marzena smiles as her red dress gently flutters around her ankles “Yes… He’s alone now…” She pulls out a small datascroll and dials a number. Holding the device to her head, she waits for an answer.
“Zena?” A familiar voice crackles over the speaker. “Honey where the hell are you?”
Marzena chuckles, her halo glowing an eerie ghost green as she descends from her perch atop the building. “Hello, Donpar, baby… I’m on a little walk… Don’t worry about me…”
Councilman Donpar sighs and the speaker crackles a bit. “Marzena… You know as well as I do that when you’re on your walks, you tend to do things that end up being very, very bad…”
Marzena walks along the street and into the lower-class portion of the district. “Yes. I know, honey-baby… That’s what makes me sexy…”
From over the phone, Donpar growls quietly. “Don’t start me, babe… Daddy’s busy with work…”
The gray cat chuckles again, turning a corner into an even more shambled section of the seaside district. “Oh, but I like it when you’re like this, honey… Tell me what you’d do to a bad girl like me…”
“Maybe I’d do a lot of stuff to a bad girl like you…” he growls. “And maybe I’d enjoy every minute of it…”
Turning one last time into an alleyway, Marzena stops and looks down at an unconscious blue dragon. “Show me when I get home…” And with that she hangs up the phone.

“Again. Are you SURE he hasn’t left Anduruna?” Ran asks Aaron as she jumps from rooftop to rooftop. Behind her, Marx and Klara, accompanied by Alerio and Xi respectively, follow her lead.
“Yes.” Aaron replies through Ran’s helmet commlink. “I did more analysis on how developed his power is. At this point, he’d only have enough strength, this including the fact he has been fighting for a while now and his power is not at one-hundred percent, to jump two moderately sized dreamkeepers…”
Ran quickly jumps down onto a lower roof and peers into the dark streets of the Talocan-Margate border. “Good… Then we have some time before anyone finds him…” She catches Marx and Klara as they follow her down to the low roof.
“Artist?” Marx looks at the disguised Ran. “How can we be sure that our target’s position has not yet been revealed or compromised to the enemy?”
Klara puffs her cheeks at her brother and readjusts her modified rocket launcher. “Mr. Kiaran is NOT a target, Marx. He’s a dreamkeeper that is super cool!” She twirls playfully as Aaron lands amongst them.
“Enough playing, child.” He stops Klara and looks at Ran and Marx. “Marx is correct, girl. If Kiaran’s position has been compromised while he is unconscious, especially to Marzena Caramia, we are in for a fight you cannot possibly hope to win…”
Ran hides her discomfort from within her helmet. “Then what are our options?” She asks dryly, her augmented voice growling in a low tone.
Aaron indicates himself and the two kids. “Kiaran does not recognize you in your disguise. You will have to fight while the kids and I stay hidden and ready to provide support if need be.”
Ran hesitates. “Me fight Ki…? He’s always gone easy on me and still won… And that was when he knew it was me…” She turns back toward the Talocan-Margate border and sighs. “And… Will I be willing to hurt him? Even if it is for his own good?”
Suddenly, Ran feels a gentle tugging on her tail. Looking back, she sees Klara stroking it with a smile on her face. “You can do it, Ms. Ran! Mr. Kiaran won’t know what hit him!” She squeaks happily.
Ran smiles under her helmet and nods. “Alright… Let’s go.”
Aaron kneels and unclips a sheathed knife from under his pant leg and hands it to the cat. “Here. This no longer belongs to me, Ran… It belongs to you now.”
Ran almost unsheathes the blade but Aaron stops her. “Never unsheathe this blade unless you feel the time is right. And you will know…”
The cat tightens the sheath onto her left forearm and turns. “Be on my tail and watch my back
Aaron nods. “And we shall be your shadow.”
And with that, Ran leaps off the roof and dashes off through the darkened streets of Margate.

“You said two rods, Isura?” Sethos asks as he works with one of the Puppetmaster’s gloves.
“That is correct sir. He has two biorods.” Isura replies. “Might I ask what you are doing, Mr. Vorey?”
Sethos doesn’t answer. He merely continues to work on the assassin’s glove. On the glove, he starts fitting a strange looking, metallic device onto the top. He then places two strange looking rails on top of that and clicks everything into place.
Isura peers at his new weapon and frowns. “This doesn’t look like something that will do me any good, sir…”
Sethos backs away from the table and puts on the gauntlet. “Do not worry, child… It shall be everything we ever dreamed of…”
