Beware the Shy Ones"Come on, Astro, when was the last time you did anything social?" Chill asked, nudging his best friend with his elbow.
If he could have, Astro Man would've rolled his optics. "At your Christmas party," he replied nonchalantly. "You should know, you were there."
"Yeah, that was, I dunno, six MONTHS ago?" Chill smirked. "Even you have to admit, half a year is a little excessive, don't you think?" He would nudge Astro again as they stood in front of the bar.
"No," came the space-bot's short reply as he glanced up at the bar's sign again. Astro was a shy sort of robot, and he hadn't much taken to the idea of going out for a drink after the duo had gone to the museum to see a gallery with one of Chill's photos in it. Nonetheless, he found himself in front of Mason's Bar, still very hesitant.
Chill rolled his eyes. "Come on, we'll sit in the corner, at least," he grunted as he dragged the green robot in.
"Heya, Chill Man!" the bartender and owner greeted him. Chill was a frequent patron, not that his mom or sister knew. "Who's the friend?"
Astro humorously tried to hide behind Chill, being revealed due to his bulkier frame. "This guy's name is Astro," Chill replied, chuckling. "If you couldn't tell, he's a little shy, so I think we'll sit off in the corner today. I'll have a Godfather on the rocks, and Astro here..." he glanced at his friend curiously. "Something light and sweet, maybe a Vermouth and Soda." He and Astro would quickly take their seat as their drinks came.
Chill took a large sip of his cocktail, downing a good quarter. Astro, meanwhile, was studying his own mix, peering at it as if it would try to eat him. Chill rolled his eyes and told Astro to 'man up', as he put it.
"I'll h-have a sip, I guess. Couldn't h-hurt," Astro responded, a small section of his faceplate sliding down to reveal what served as his mouth. After one final inspection, he took his first sip, and his eyes lit up like firecrackers.
Chill watched, stunned, as Astro quickly downed the rest of the cocktail. "Delicious," the green robot stated. "What else can I try?"
"Erm, one of my favorite drinks that's sweet like that is an Irish Rose," Chill said, downing the rest of his Godfather, trying to figure out what was with Astro. He watched as Astro ordered another Godfather for Chill, along with an Irish Rose. The space robot quickly asked for another, different drink. Chill got him a Bloody Mary, and that just made Astro bounce up and down.
"Reminds me of when I'm drunk," Chill muttered, taking a sip of his second Godfather. "Only I'm not as much of a lightweight."
Astro's bouncing just increased as he ordered other drinks, downing them all in a second. Finally, the burly man sitting at the table behind them sneered, "Dumb, lightweight robot."
Chill had never watched anyone go from extreme happiness to extreme rage as fast as Astro did that second. The space-bot's eyes burnt a deep, dark red, and his orbs stood at attention, waiting to fire. "What. Did. You. Just. Say," he glowered. In the background, Mason watched. He had seen that the other man had started it, and as long as Astro and the other didn't damage his bar, he was fine with a little fighting.
"He said yer a no-good, lightweight machiner," the other man's scrawny friend replied, gaining a few chuckles from two other guys sitting there.
"Erm, Astro, I've seen these guys before," Chill stated, reaching a hand out to touch his drunken friend."They're anti-robot jerks. We should just go."
Astro knocked away Chill's hand. "Since I'm the nice sort, you can either say sorry, or we can go outside and you can fight us. What's it to be?"
"Us?" Chill asked. "Astro i'm not exactly keen on fighting, even when I'm drunk."
Oh, who said I needed you?" the Wily-bot replied, activating his hologram ability. Another Astro Man appeared next to the real one. AT once, they fired their orbs, breaking the four troublemakers' bottles of whiskey. Chill shot a glance to Mason saying 'I'll clean it up.' The orbs returned to their masters, the laser ends pointed now at each troublemaker.
"Uh, boss, I thunk we should git out uf here," one said, even more brutish than the first. The first one swallowed and stammered a 'yes', and they got out of there in a hurry.
As Chill and Astro sat back down, Astro grinned. "Now, how about a Caipirinha?" he asked, at which Chill face-palmed. He'd created a monster.
