“Only few dare to cross the temple threshold, but the wise who do, fear the flowers above all else.”

The Threshold Golem is not entirely known to be plant or animal, but many speculate them to be an amalgamation of the two. They have no eyes and a circular, worm-like mouth. The Golems each vary in height but are usually comparable to the height of tall trees. These sleeping giants lay dormant underground next to one another in a rings around sights of great and ancient powers such as eon old temples and other-worldly artifacts. On the surface above them are spectacular looking flowers which act as feelers, when two are touched, the Golem responds by pulling the victim underground or surfacing to deal with it in person. The Golems feed upon the energy of what they surround through the soil and channel it throughout their vines in a type of energy synthesis. Their vines produce vital sustenance from such energy and act as veins to supply nourishing fluids throughout their bodies. The creatures are tall and slender, but not to the point of looking ghastly. They maintain balance in a lofty manner, usually bending their legs and spreading them out to deal with the unevenly distributed weight of their shells. When they surface, the flowers that were once above it can be found connected to its torso area by branches or vines. They demonstrate deadly and destructive forces on the surface, being able to split crags in the ground and force rock up from the surface. However, they prove to be a much greater threat under the soil. The Threshold Golem mostly preforms combat under the surface. Being one with the earth and vines, the creature can bend the land around it to suck its body under the earth with lightning speeds and tunnel throughout the underground with the same force. During this state, the Golem, having no eyes, feels vibration of the earth around it with pinpoint precision, not even standing still can diverge it from its target. One under its pray, it will then reach up with terrifying force to grab it, crush it, and pull it under to be devoured. Many people who dare confront a Threshold Golem initially try to break its earthy and vine fixed shell in order to hack at the flesh underneath, but others who who more about their biology know that managing to get high enough to cut off its flowers can disorientate it. Unfortunately, a substantial number of flowers must be dismembered in order to have a great effect. Difficult considering they have many. Upon killing a Threshold Golem, travelers will burn its inner flesh to dust in order to take their hearts from the ashes. Their hearts don't burn and are a very valuable resource Along with its nonburnable bones which are used in crafting, being durable and abnormally light. Their flowers can also be used in potions.
