There is one sad story behind this.
Monsters and humans really are dangerous for all involved to exist in the same world.Β Soul fusion is basically the Atom bomb with a very, very low bar, and its dangerous even to the monsters.Β Just look at Omega Flowey and the Absolute God of Hyperdeath.
There's some odd ideas about humans being stronger than monsters and not needing to worry, but while Frisk was able to return to a Save point when killed, the other six humans weren't so lucky.Β That silly record overvalued the power of a normal human's soul and undervalued the UTILITY of it to the average human.Β Meanwhile, when absorbed by a monster it does make the host body stronger and capable of more powerful magic, and since Asriel was able to stop Chara from killing others, and subdue six of them for a time (or indefinitely when he absorbs still-living monster souls to simulate his own soul) that these empowered monsters cannot be stopped if they wish to harm others, even if Frisk was able to influence the souls.Β But not without dying a lot (literally...not like Mettaton's song) first.Β And Frisk didn't have to protect a third party from such an enemy before stopping them, a task which may have been impossible no matter how many times they reloaded and tried.
So yeah, any wicked or just rebellious agenda-driven monster is one baby strangling away from a power boost, and each one afterwards increases power exponentially.Β The question is not rather we can "find in the city of Sodom fifty righteous Monsters" or even if the majority of monsters are good and peaceful, but whether just ONE will defect.Β In a way, that's what Flowey represents in the game.Β That ONE monster who really does want to see the world burn.
So, be honest.Β Did YOU fall for Flowey's friendliness pellets the first time?Β That means that if it wasn't Frisk he was targeting and if Toriel wasn't there to stop him, then you know that THAT'S how little time it takes for a Flower to collect a human soul and start the process.....
