Description:
A generation 4.5 single seat variable geometry fighter designed to replace the venerable F-14 Tomcat in service. The F-24A provides the same excellent interception capabilities of the older Tomcat while providing greater strike capability. It’s mobility is enhanced by the addition of 3D TVC nozzles to it’s F110-129 engines granting it greater capability in WVR combat. A glazed single piece canopy, composite construction, the integration of canted control surfaces and angled intakes reduces it’s overall radar cross section. The F-24A Hellcat II derives it’s name from the famous World War Two era F-6F Hellcat which turned the tables against the Japanese A6M “Zeke” or Zero in the Pacific Theater.
