Description So my roomate has this friend at work who likes to draw but is a total newbie at it. So today he shows me this picture of a vampire or something that she drew for him, and it's godawful. Bad composition, severe amounts of whitespace, horrible linework. Fine. To be expected from a beginner, right?

But then he adds a new twist to things- he wants me to show her what she could be dong with the right amount of practice. I'm not so sure about this, as one of my personal theories is that if you strive to copy someone else's specific style you can never find your own, but he insists.

This is what I came up with. Critiques or comments most appreciated, as I am actually somewhat proud of this work.

Nice man!

I have a similar moral about showing others how to draw. I'm not the best, but I'm still developing my style, and I can't help but disapprove of copycats, especially bad ones.

I really donΒ΄t agree with "Asthenie"! I think the flowing part of his cloak gives the final touch!!!!!
A lovely dark picture!!!! but strangely enough I canΒ΄t choose it as a favourite...

looks pretty good.
Nice lineage and shading.
I don't like the flowing part of his cloak though. Looks ab bit too much like hair to me. :-/
The background is nothing spectacular but it fits well to the picture. The cloak is the only thing I don't like. The rest is very neat.

The shading is beautiful. I love it, especially the dark, rainy background. The hand has a few issues but aside from that lovely.
