SPYRO and the Vale of the Voices
Part 2 – The wisps
It was so strange how silent everything was in the forest, no sound nor sight of animal or bird life, and the strange fog entity glided steadily and noiselessly ahead. The only sounds were the slight damp thud and soft rustle of Spyro's own footfall on the leaf litter as he wandered in pursuit. There was no clues to where they were heading, the path only meandered through the trees.
Just when he was beginning to think that this whole area was devoid of fauna, a faint fluttering could be heard, and it was followed by a glimpse of something flitting amongst the branches overhead. So something else did live here! Trying to peer up into the trees, pondering what was out there, came a sudden whoosh of air behind him and the feeling of something like a wing brushing his own. Startled at first, Spyro looked around for the cause of the close encounter, only a blur of shimmering airy yellow.
“Why?” Something cried in a whisper as it flew by. He caught glimpse of trailing feathery appendages this time. Were they birds? Or something else?
“So far...” Another answered in a faint groan, and this time he saw the creature hovering off to his left, it's fringed wings making soft noises in the air.
The third one appeared almost before him beside the path.
“It's all gone...” It's voice was sorrowful.
Definitely not birds. It had an almost dragon-like appearance, but the most puzzling aspect was that they were etherially translucent. What were they? He watched as they swooped and soared almost like they were playing around the trees.
Spyro would have paused longer to pay more attention to these beings but for the purple mist continuing on. He followed without query, hoping for answers to sate his curiosity.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. This short story is based shortly after the events in the game 'The legend of Spyro: Dawn of the dragon'.
2. This is my design interpretation of Spyro, sort of a combination of his design from the original games and the legend of Spyro trilogy.
3. Please view the picture and read the story before making a comment, the picture and story intentionally go together.
4. I tried out a new technique and style for the art, so the strange patchy look is intentional (watercolour base colours).
5. I rarely post written works that I've done, so I'm fully aware that my writing is not exactly good or consistent.
6. I will try to answer any sensible questions regarding the art or story, but bear in mind I will not reveal any of the story ahead of me posting it.
7. I will NOT put up with any asshattery or drama on my art or in the comments. I have zero tolerance for harassment regarding artistic differences and interpretation. Offenders will be blocked and comments deleted without warning.
8. I made this illustrated story for myself. It was an idea and concept I've been considering for a few years. I do not have to post it here or share it with anyone.
PICTURE INFO: Neat pencil lineart, watercolour wash background base, Aquarela water soluble pencils for refining background details and base colours for Spyro, Acrylic paint for Spyro and Cynder, and markers for creatures and details.
