The first ranger I plan on doing for a Power Rangers reimagining.Jason Lee Scott was a football star who was quite reckless until a particularly risky play left him injured and out of the game for many months. During his recovery, he watched students at a kung fu and became interested in the martial art. When he finally got out of his cast and past his physical therapy, he started to learn Kung Fu and become something of a great fighter, using his skills to defend himself and fight for others who are being bullied or abused.
One night Jason and four others were at a party way out in the town quarry and getting away from all the noise, they wandered into a cave and found 5 colored stones that glowed brightly. They were all teleported to an alien ship underground and told that they had been chosen to defend the world from evil that will soon arrive. They will become great warriors with armor, weapons, and mechs to fight whatever comes their way.
For these new rangers, I wanted to get rid of the spandex look and go for a more armored look.

Awesome.
Kinda could use a little something extra, like stripes or something in the upper arms, thighs and between his neck and shoulders going down towards his chest piece. Maybe some blue hue in the shoulder and chest grey sections to give off the Morphing Grid power energy that powers the suit. And maybe some abs since it looks flat and doesn't show him being all that strong.
But that's just nitpicking and it still looks really great. So, have you seen the 2017 Power Ranger movie?

I did think about stripes on the thighs but decided against it, though I still wish I did it. I tried to avoid that blue hue because it always struck me as weird when I saw it on the movie suits. Well, that part is armor so no abs for it, plus Jason isn't muscular at this point.

Kinda weird though, most super suits include the abs. But if you don't want them included I can understand.
Well you do at least know the versions of the rangers from the film, right? I'm not saying that you have to use those versions, just was wanting to make sure you had all the resources available for this, like for ex. if you get stuck on trying to modernize a character and couldn't get passed the writers block but something from that film could've helped out. Just looking out.

I'm not really one for fake abs, you want them, you gotta work for it.
I've seen clips, so I've got the gist of what each ranger is all about. I'm taking a little bit from the show, the comics, and the movie when it comes to the rangers' personalities.

Well, their gaining of superhuman physique isn't instantaneous as that, it's something that takes time for their body to adjust to. Meanwhile, their power suits will compensate for their beginning strength level, which isn't enough to fight Rita or her forces, so the suits triple their current strength.

Yeah that makes sense. It would actually be incredibly hard on their bodies if they were to get their superhuman physique instantaneous instead of gradually. And their suits making up for the difference is a good idea.

Yeah, it's gonna take 1.5 years for the rangers to fully change into their enhanced physique. After they fully gain their strength, the suits power boost will be fully accessed to them so that they can gain 2x what their final strength will be for about 5 minutes.

I guess Jason's a bit like Ken Masters in this continuity, reckless and arrogant at first, but later learned martial arts to become a better person. Nice!
