A full coloured and textured version of a superb sketch by the very talented ~ genesisWhen I first saw this sketch I fell in love with it and the concept behind it. I knew I wanted to work on this image straight away. I have never done work like this before - ie working from someone elses sketch so this was quite a refreshing process. I will be posting a walkthrough of the process some time soon in my website.
The original premise behind the image, written by Genesis is:
"The robot Rustbucket stands in its swampy home, not moving waiting to catch a ray of light where it will be used as energy. Rustbuckets 'family' sits patiently waiting for him to catch some energy for everyone to take home. Although to them this may seem like a few minutes to us it is years.
When this is done imagine earthy kind of colours with a cold mist engulfing the environment. Should be quite an atmospheric piece as the only thing that looks alive is the kingfisher that sits ontop Rustbuckets staff."
I hope I have done this justice with my on style.

Oh, those robot faces! I love 'em! You got the feeling of metal, (of course that was your point) but you make it look good! The closest one has nice colours and it is really looking out of the picture. Just one point, where does the light coming at the 'wanderer' from? Favorite, I don't know the little smiley thing, so text will have to do this time :-D

man that is really cool, i like how there arent really any solid lines (from a pen) etc. everything is just so soft, and the colors look so natural and blend well together.

Nice work... I really like this piece, except for the bird on the staff of his, I don't like that, sorry. The shading, the water and the foggy-like effect is beautiful though, as well as the colours. Impressed. Keep up the good work there.

Thats awesome! The concept is great, as is the story behind it. The colors go really well with the mood. I especially like the moss and such growing on the robots. Very neat!!
The only thing i would change is the kingfisher. It contrasts with the sad and lifeless mood of the piece. Though i would normally enjoy such contrast, i believe this one could do without it. Just my
