(One thing to say is this is by far my favorite page work I've done and never expected it to look like this.)

Cover/Start: Shadows-of-The-Past-Cover Previous: Shadows of The Past Pg.3 Next: Shadows of The Past Pg.5

*The figure is revealed to be Ignitus to which Cynder is surprised as she has not seen him for some time. Cynder is also puzzled as he is different than he was before. She learns that he is the new Chronicler after the previous one passed his legacy to him. Cynder has much to ask of Ignitus.*

Cynder: “Ignitus? You’re alive still?
Ignitus: “Not exactly, but I live in the Celestial Temple. Where I am the new Chronicler.”
Ignitus: “To put it short so it is not complicated I did not die, but I did not live.”
Ignitus: “As I am unable to come back to the physical world. I am only able to visit you or Spyro through spirit crystals.”
Cynder: “Still it's nice to see you again. So… how has being the new Chronicler been?”
Ignitus: “Well I have the knowledge and history of our world. More so the stories and many tales of our world. It has been quite normal. Though I sense something that bothers you.”
Cynder: “Well it's… about my past, and….”
Ignitus: “You’re unable to move on from it?”
Cynder “Yeah… I haven't been able to sleep right for a couple of weeks. It's been getting worse.”
Ignitus: “And I see you’re at the place where you dread the most?”
Cynder: “The one place I wouldn’t want to see again, but I’m here, because I don’t want to be here, because….”
Ignitus: “You need to face what you dread to face.”
Cynder: “Yeah… shadows brought me here, and an Elder Drake is here too, but he's here to help me.”
Ignitus: “I see… you are here to confront your past and the shadows that represent them, but you are….”
Cynder: “Scared… I’m really scared to do it. I wandered around thinking of what to do until I saw a spirit crystal. Asked what I should do until I saw you.”
Ignitus: “You want my help with your situation.”
Cynder: “I just want a way that I can just not keep having nightmares about it.”
Cynder: “Isn’t there a way you can help stop it?”
Ignitus: “...I am afraid I cannot Cynder.”
Cynder: “Then what is a way I can stop suffering from it; I'm scared to face it; I'm sick of remembering it; I'm sick of seeing it; I just want it to stop!”
Ignitus: “Cynder I hear you and understand what you are going through, but this is something that I cannot change or fix. I cannot come to the physical world as much as I can not be able to help stop what you’re going through.”
Cynder: “THEN WHAT DO I DO!?”

*The air becomes silent. The ambiance stops. Silence is all but heard. Cynder is frustrated and tearful with what she thinks she cannot think of. Ignitus ponders for a bit before speaking of what to say to Cynder to help her. His thought comes as he says now.*

Ignitus: “Cynder listen to me. Even though I could not be there to help you when you were at your worst. I am here now to help you at your most emotional.”
Ignitus: “You believe yourself hopeless, but you do not think of your most important memories.”
Ignitus: “The ones that you feel the happiest the most.”

*Cynder looks up to Ignitus and calms down. She remains quiet to listen to him.”

Ignitus: “You and Spyro are alike despite being different yet you share a bond with him and your friends as well.”
Ignitus: “You do not feel alone when you’re around them nor those who appreciate you and who you consider friends.”
Ignitus: “You enjoyed your freedom for the first time in your life after the war and you seemed so happy for the first time in your years.”
Ignitus: “You’ve questioned yourself who you are and what you are.”
Ignitus: “Yet you question what your destiny should be the most.”

*Cynder begins to understand and realize what he is saying, but remains quiet.”

Ignitus: “Nothing may be able to change who you were before, but that doesn’t mean you cannot move on and accept your true self for who you wish to be.”
Ignitus: “Do not let your past be a burden for what you do not want to be. Let it be a lesson for what you choose to be, and what you do with your own power.”
Ignitus: “You choose your destiny as you choose what to do with your own path.”
Ignitus: “I have faith in what you will do young dragoness. As I have with Spyro.”
Ignitus: “Again, your past may not be who you are, but it is a lesson to change yourself for the better to what you wish to be.”

*Cynder reminisces about the happier memories she had. While thinking of her own past and finally understanding what she has to do.”

Cynder: “I know what to do now.”
Cynder: “Thank you so much Ignitus.”
Cynder: “Honestly I wish I could hug you as a thanks as well.”
Ignitus: “Saying that makes me more than happy. More so to you knowing what you must decide. I am proud of how far you have come.”
Ignitus: “Until then Cynder. I have faith in what you decide your destiny to be.”

*The crystal begins to slowly lose glow, as well as Ignitus begins to slowly dissipate until he is gone. Cynder now knowing what to do heads back to find the Elder Drake, and face her past.*

Cynder: “ELDER DRAKE! I'm ready to do it!”

*The Elder appears from the wilderness and approaches Cynder as she is ready.”

Elder Drake: “Are you utmost certain you are ready?”
Cynder: “I am, while I am a bit nervous, I… am… ready.”
Elder Drake: “Good. To the foot of the Well. Your journey begins there.”

*Both Cynder and the Elder Drake head to the well to the foot of it. There her confrontation with herself and her past begins. Shadows begin to watch her head towards, as they aware of what is to come.*

(One thing about I did look at any artworks related to him but only some were helpful. So I did my own take while following the the design. I did mix elements of the ANB and DOTD Ignitus for his look. As the story takes place two years after DOTD and Ignitus is the new Chronicler.)
