There's a jungle near my house in my current world, but I only go there to collect wood. I only lay waste to everything in Creative mode.
Also, have you ever been in one of those Extreme Hills biomes? I'm on the edge of one, my house built off the side of a cliff... it's strangely pretty, looking at all those huge hills and overhangs.

I mostly do Creative mode, but sometimes I do Survival just for the challenge of making everything from scratch. I found a really awesome cave system under a hill. I didn't even get to explore all of it, but I found diamonds and I had to leave before I ended up dying and losing them.
