holy fuck its been like 600 years since ive attempted a realistic digital piece. ive done realism traditionally not too long ago, in fact i started a semi realistic painting yesterday for a special someone :~) but ah digital art is so rewarding cuz you can do so much more to achieve the final look that you want.
i actually started this drawing forever ago and i finished th ebackground but then i was too lazy to finish shading Jay, but idk i have so much unfinished stuff i just opened it today and i was like man im gonna finish this today. i have a test tomorrow but im gonna do this instead bc i need to do some proper art lmfao.
im suuuuuper happy with the result, i remember all the realism drawings i attempted to do in the past and just looking back at everything i realize how many new techniques ive learned and i realize how much tips and tricks i pick up along the way either from experimenting or from observing. its still not perfect but damn im really happy with how far ive come with my art. i think if my past self saw my art now, it would be jealous. and i think when you reach that level of art where you think your past self would look up to your future self, it means you're on the right track and you're improving.
originally i wanted to do much finer details for the fur but it was taking me so long which is why i dropped this painting for such a long time, so i ended up making it a little messier and the fur strands a bit thicker. cuz if u look at the snout, the muzzle and bridge of the nose has finer fur details which is what i originally was doing once, but yeah that took too long so i just did less precise fur details but it worked out in the end!! im practising what methods are most effective for fur, and so far this is pree good.
anyway enough of my rambling, i should wrap this up now.

ps. i dont remember if ive posted this yet or not but i got into the college of my choice for illustration! im really excited to start, the school is lovely even though its huge and confusing af lol. i went today to pay my deposit, and im pretty sure ill be covered by osap (ontario's student loan program) so im hoping the college experience will be a good one.
