Description
So this is a thought I had in my head for a while. What is the key to ultimate power? In the world of Dragon Ball, there seems to be three main ways to become the ultimate warrior:Ultra Instinct: A special technique brought on by the Angels, Ultra Instinct allows one to remove all thought from their actions, letting their body move freely to evade attacks they otherwise would be unable to. However, there's a massive drawback in that if you're not used to it you're left incapacitated and unable to do anything once it wears off.
Ultra Ego: So I'm not sure if this is different than Toppo's God of Destruction power or something similar, but what I do know is Ultra Ego is the antithesis of Ultra Instinct; Instead of clearing your thoughts, the user instead succumbs to their primal urges, letting loose and allowing the thrill of the fight to wash over them. This is basically the perfect power for Vegeta, going back to his royal Saiyan roots and letting him do what he does best without reverting to his evil ways. Unfortunately, this too has a downside; that being Vegeta needs to take damage in order to power up, limiting how strong he can get before suffering too much and becoming a dead weight.
Relying on One's Own Strength: Besides that, there's been a few that forewent such divine power and achieved or even surpassed godlike powers through their own means. This is most notably displayed by Jiren, but I feel Gohan also has this potential. If Super Saiyan 4 were to be canonically introduced in future Dragon Ball media, I feel Gohan could use it to great effect. If I could pin a downside to this, I would say it's the difficulty to attain such power without divine influence. Only a select few would be able to achieve this.
Also, Happy Saiyan Day. I grew up on Dragon Ball, so it makes me proud to celebrate this with all of you.
