More like Takaki since he is the one making Yumi the poster girl of the series which is kind of frustrating when you stop to think about it. Because when creators make characters they tend to choose favorites out the many characters created which would evidently lead to fans choosing the creator's favorite as well making their sudden popularity biased and unrealistic. Personally, I believe Yumi is overrated because she would never had become this popular without Takaki constantly putting her out there as someone who seems a little too perfect in many ways, whereas Asuka was made to be as generic as possible.
