Description
I wanted to do some Avatar fan art since 2005, but never got around to it, so...here it is.The last time these benders met, they were rudely interrupted by one "angry jerk." Hopefully, in Day of the Black Sun coming up, they'll meet again (especially since the said "angry jerk" will be out of town) and finish the awesome fight.
Anyway, I'll separate the characters into wallpapers later at a much higher rez.
More Avatar art coming (slowly).

I really love this one! I like how you based it on season 3 elements, and how you kept it faithful to avatar.
The colours and blending seem to fit really well! Also great perspective on the battle. Very different from the usual fan art poses.

The coloring is just, wow, oh mah god.
Beautiful posing too. Heh, though I too thought at first Azula was Zuko...
Awesome how you implemented Aang's future ensemble into the pic.
Out of curiousity, what program did you use?

Kick her butt, kids! But not too hard, she's got some good in her! Just...just kick her until it gives up and comes out!
Dramatic piece. Excellent title. Magnificent poses. Yay for two-word praises. Definite fave.

Composition, perspective, anatomy and all the things most artists angst about..fantastic! Their conflict is depicted so well!

This looks absolutely amazing- I can't wait to see it properly (using my mom's old computer, and her screen is total %#?%"!), but from what I can see- yup, kicks @$$. I will return to this and try and comment again when I got proper screen power- in the meantime, fave for easy finding.

MAGNIFICENT. Β This is truly a masterpiece.
Aang and Katara, ganging up on Azula during her most vulnerable time: the Day of Black Sun. Β Airbending and Waterbending vs. Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu. Β Even without her bending, Azula proves to be a tough customer. Β The intensity conveyed in this piece is hard to put into words.

Actually, observation is more important than actually applying technique, imo. Look at anything, then visualize the way you want it to appear in your art, then come up with ways to make that happen with the techniques you know. Observation comes from experience, techniques come from Google.

Hmmm. I tried that a couple of times, though the biggest problem that I encounter is that it never comes out the way I imagine it.
Ever have that problem yourself?

ziwu In reply to StarDragon77 [2007-10-30 23:35:32 +0000 UTC]
Everyone makes mistakes in their artworks. Normally, if it's anatomical or layout mistakes, I can find them easily and correct them from the start (before coloring.) If it's the feel of the drawing, I normally stay away from the drawing and come back with fresh eyes. Another trick is to flip the image horizontally back and forth when you work so it's a balanced image.

StarDragon77 In reply to ziwu [2007-10-31 00:09:38 +0000 UTC]
Hmmmm, I try that every now and then with the flip image but it just looks all wrong at each turn.
