Description The Illusion Castle stands within the mountains, hidden from view on all sides. Either side of the mountains sits two countries, both at war with each other. To the east, the Land of the Fiery Dusk; and to the west, the Land of the White Morn. Both countries knew of the presence of the castle, but neither of them knew who created it. To them it was something unknown, and something not to get involved in. There was dark magic about, so it was better left alone; if anything like that could be left alone.

Location: Unknown
“God, this place is dark,” he half moaned.
“Are you telling me that the vampire is scared of the dark?” came a short laugh to the right of him, “Urk, what is this stuff?”
“It’s dust. Don’t cough a hairball Xilef, the team already has enough to clean up.”
“I don’t like your snide comments Luc.”
“And I don’t like your hairballs, so the feeling is mutual.”
“Can we shed some light on the scene?”
“Does kitty not like the dark?”
“I’m a cat demon, emphasis on the demon.”
“Is kitty cat meowing?”
“Shut up spoilt-rich-kid,” Xilef turned his back on Lucifer.
“It’s not my fault that I’m a Princling,” his words tickled the sensitive ears of the demon, “But, as you ask, let there be light.” The vampire clicked his fingers, and as if by magic, which of course it was, every candle lit to a full flame. The chandelier cascaded scattered light across the stone floor.
“I hate your inheritance.”
“Only ‘cause you want it. Come Xilef, I think you’ll like the gardens.”

Location: Gardens of the Castle
The cat demon ran out into the sunlight, his claws scattering across the paving.
“Mine, all mine for half a year!” he spun around with his paws raised high, “And none of it yours for half a year. Bless be the sun!”
“What was that Xi?” the vampire stepped out into the light. The cat demon stopped, his slit amber eyes staring at the paled one.
“What? How are you in the light? How are you not turning to ash or whatever it is you vampires do?”
“Clue’s in the name, the Castle of Illusion. And as its Master, I control the illusions.”
“The Vampire who wants to be in the sunlight, oh the irony,” the cat hummed, “Oh how your parents must love you.”
“I’ll give you first choice of quarters and put fish in the pond if you shut up.”
“Done deal.”

Location: Quarters of an unknown origin
Lucifer sat down on a clean sheet on his bed. About him the cleaning team worked, getting rid of all the dust.
“It seems I have quite hostile neighbours,” his slender fingers danced across the map, his other hand through the lines in the book, “So my neighbours are the Lands of the Fiery Dusk and White Morn. Maybe I should visit them,” he licked a fang. The cleaning team stopped working, a shiver going down all their spines, but the vampire did not notice as he exited the room.

Location: A Tower under new ownership
Xilef stood in front of the newly cleaned mirror. He was glad that the cleaning team had finally left his quarters; he didn’t often like humans, they had an odd presence. With a claw he flicked his bluey-grey hair, and then he turned to his bed. He gave an exaggerated yowl and rolled his eyes.
“I don’t care how much he’ll bait me with this, I need a big pillow.” Going from his quarters he found one of the cleaning team, and shouldering his resentment he asked,
“Where is your Master Lucifer?”
“Sire Lucifer has briefly left the castle sir. I believe he has gone to visit one of the countries either side of this castle."
“The few times I want to talk to him and he’s not here,” he then turned on the cleaning member, “And don’t you dare tell him I said that.”
“Of course sir,” she bowed her head and disappeared. He went to the open arch window and looked out. Some twenty feet below was a roof. Further down was a courtyard, but it wasn’t the only one in the castle complex. In the castle was a tower taller than his own, but tried as he had he could not find an entrance. Standing on the ledge he lent out and got a better view. The air played with his hair, and gently touched his cheek. He noticed the breeze was warm.
“In a Castle of Illusion, why would a vampire make a warm breeze? He feels no heat,” he gave a short look back over his shoulder and a toothy grin, “You have a kind master humans.” Inside his head he was already laughing as he looked down. Taking a flying leap he landed on all fours, his claws digging into the tiles. He looked up at the other tower, and saw at present there were no windows at the angle he could see it at. His eyes moved to look at a courtyard where he knew the vampire had taken up quarters, then back at the unenterable tower.
“What’ve you got planned Luc?” he slowly stood; but allowing the thought to pass he shrugged his shoulders as if to say ‘Oh well, the plan will show in time.’ Using his tail to maintain his balance he stood on the ridge of the roof and spun around. Digging his claws on once more he raised a paw and looked out,
“While the dog’s away this cat shall play. It’s time to go explore the haunts.”
