Luc had had the occasional glance up from the piano. He had been playing since before the doors had opened. It always took some time before he got into the rhythm of it. Now his fingers were skimming across the keys with ease. He enjoyed playing, he enjoyed being in control over what he was creating; this was why the Castle of Illusions suited him so well. His eyes were hooded as he was taken by his own music. Every note was threading through his mind, each key begging to be hit and become part of the tune. The smile upon his lips was wide. The bone white keys slipped beneath his fingers as he continued to play. Looking up again he saw her, she was trying to look at him but not succeeding. She looked so beautiful. Like some goddess in his mind. Her coppery hair tumbled over her right shoulder, but her neckline was currently bare. The dress was strapless, and of a similar cut to that of the wedding dress, the colour, however, was similar to that of her eyes, that deep, lush green. Her eyes were now shut as she listened to the music.

Standing, he moved towards her with silent steps, the music still playing under no one's hands. Going up behind her he rested his hands on the back of her chair. His own skin was a shade paler than hers. Within his mind he resisted the urge to touch her shoulder then caress her cheek. He consoled himself by whispering in her ear,
"Yet again, I've found you."

I could feel his weight on the back of my chair.
"Why did you bring me here, sire?"
"Princess?" his youthful voice questioned me.
"You're willing to let me wander about your castle freely; surely a captive is not treated like that?" I felt the weight shift, being removed for a moment before he pressed back down. I could tell his back was to my back, that he leaned against the chair, and that he faced skywards.
"Would you wish it that I had you shackled? In truth there is no point. I rule this castle, I know its going ons, no one can escape without my consent or knowledge. If I did wish to torment you, I would do it from within your own mind, breaking you mentally and seeing your eyes ridden with tears, begging for the mercy of it to end. But I do not wish to torment you."
"What is it you wish then?"
"I don't know."

'What is it I want?' Luc thought. His eyes scanned the roof, something in his mind clicked that this was a boring roof. He began to calculate a more interesting roof. The roof opened out, a giant crystal dome forming. He cast his eyes down, a smile beginning to play on his lips.
"I guess I don't know what I want. Do you think me a calloused man if I lack ambition?"
"No, I would say you were a wayward youth, but with an open mind that could be corrupted."
"I think my mind is hardened against corruption."
"I wouldn't be so sure."
"My family is already corrupt enou-"
"You live in a castle forged from illusions. You live in your own daydreams, but does that mean you live in your own nightmare as well? If you begin to live in the darker thoughts of your mind, could it open another side of you that you don't wish to be? Could it open your mind and make it corrupt? If so what would become of this castle? Are the shadows I see just shadows, or are they the darker thoughts already forming?" His grasp on the chair tightened, the words striking him deep. He didn't want his mind or heart to open up to true vampirism, he didn't want to become like his mother or father. He hated it when people looked at him with fearful eyes. Xilef was the only one who did not look at him with those eyes, he was the only one ready to answer back and put him in his place. Even in his parents' eyes he saw the dregs of fear starting to form. The smile had long since left his lips, his gaze had turned to the floor.
"You ask many a provocative question Princess."

As she woke she could feel a weight on her breast. Opening her eyes she saw the cat that was there, and the blush spread across her cheeks. The cat opened one eye lazily, and then the second, a smile adorning his face. She wished that she could sink through the floor to escape the arising situation. Xilef, however, took this moment to change. He now sat on her waist, his paws on top of each other on her sternum. He was beaming, his cat fangs showing.
"Sire Xilef, please get off of me."
"Why?" he cocked his head in his childish manner.
"Because you're invading my personal space."
"Are you sure you don't want –"
"Get off me!" He stood, then sat on haunches right next to her, still looking down at her.

He looked down at her, he had no idea why he wanted her to like him. It was a rare occasion when he found someone that he wanted to become friends with, Lucifer being one of those rare few. He sat down, still looking at her, his head cocked, trying to consider what it was about her.

Since my questions the candles had dimmed and in the crystal dome above clouds had formed. The silence had reigned long, and I began to fear that I had said too much. The music had stopped about the same time as the room had dimmed. He was next to speak, and there was now something colder about his voice.
"Have you said that, presuming that I have human conceptions?"
"What do you mean?"
"You've been thinking that I'm human all this time." A shiver ran down my spine, but curiosity bade me move above staying still. I turned, standing. My eyes came across his mouth, and the sharp fangs. I shut my eyes tight, fear overcoming my curiosity. I didn't want to believe in the existence of the creature standing before me, but how could I, he was there?
"Vampire," I whispered. His hand caressed my left cheek, his touch feeling cold.
"You didn't act like this last time we met." With fear racking my mind the self created illusions were no longer clouding it, his voice now sounded more real, not that he'd been cloaking it in the first place. My mind came to the answer just as he said it.
"I am Luc." I fainted.

Xilef stood on the stairs, looking out of one of the arch windows. He was lost in thought, so didn't hear as someone came up the stairs. His ears twitched as someone passed behind him, his tail curling protectively about his legs. He turned, and saw Luc's back. It looked like he was carrying something.

Luc held her close in one hand, opening the door with his spare one. He shut the door after himself. Taking her in both arms he gently put her down on the bed. He brushed her coppery locks off of her face. She rolled onto her right, exposing her left hand side. Stepping back he leant against the door frame. His eyes remained on her. In sleep her true innocence shone through, she really had lead a sheltered life.
"What do you think you're doing?"
