Description
Location: A Supply Closet; the Castle of IllusionI could have fainted, I should have. I paled so quickly and dropped to the floor, hands going to my mouth. From behind my hands blood rushed to my cheeks. My eyes were opened wide as I realised none of this was an illusion.
"Princess?"
"I thought this was all an illusion," I barely whispered, replaying and questioning my own actions over and over again in my head.
"I haven't solely clouded your eyes Amber." He held out a hand for me to take, but shock was still set in, leaving me unable to do anything.
"I thought ā"
He put his head back, slowing his breath,
'Is this how she thinks of me? If she thought that was a dream what could I make of an illusion?' he shook his head, 'Forget that, that would just be cruel. But she thought that was a dream; dreams aren't reality. What you feel in a dream, you don't always feel in your waking moments.' He sat down on his haunches, watching at how embarrassed she had become.
"I did go too far," he apologised, "I'm sorry."
"Iā¦" She remained so still that she could have been a statue. Taking her hands he pulled her up, careful to not let her fall against him. She was still so pale, apart from her vibrant cheeks, how her sweet blood had rushed to them. Luc turned away, knowing that it was such intoxicating thoughts that had led to this moment. With care he opened the door and looked out, grateful that his father was no longer there. With a reassuring tug he pulled her along, looking for a safer place to hide her from all present vampires.
Location: Somewhere in the Castle Grounds; the Castle of Illusion
Xilef sat atop the obelisk, smiling down at the vampire below him. The red mist had now left the Vampire King's eyes, the look that was left was that of annoyance. The demon was pleased with himself, never before had he jumped so high, and for now he was safe. Of course the vampire could climb up here by digging his nails into the stone, but that depended on just how desperate he was to get at the demon. As he smiled, Xilef wafted his tail behind him mockingly.
"Tell me where he is!"
"Where who is father?" With great care, but what seemed like none, Xilef turned to see Lucifer exiting from the castle. The Vampire Prince wore the look of innocence too well, as if he really had no idea about what was going on despite the fact he had planned it all.
"Where have you been?" his father turned on him.
"Away," Luc spun the lie with such ease. Xilef jumped from the needle and landed on all fours, turning into a cat as he did so. If Luc was here, it meant that no one was with the Princess.
"I only just got back from the Land of the Morn."
'Interesting enough Luc, but where is the girl?'
"The dawn is very bright once it reaches the top of the mountain."
'Where is the girl Luc?'
'She's in your tower muppet!' Xilef blinked harshly, he hadn't expected the vampire to be reading his thoughts, never mind replying in the same way. Licking his paws as if nothing had happened he padded away.
Location: Xilef's Quarters; the Castle of Illusion
"So Luc wasn't yanking my tail when he said you were here," Xilef changed as he walked through the door.
"It's you," she answered. Her voice wasn't happy or disdainful, the tone confusing him. For some unknown reason to him only one question came to mind as he looked at her,
"How many times did I apparently see you naked?"
"At least a dozen," her face reddened, her voice going quiet.
"Ah man, I only saw you once, which means that cat saw you the other eleven."
"You mean there are two of you?" she moved away.
"No, Lucifer made a cat look like me, hoping to promote the reaction you did give when you found out about me. So there's me, and there's a normal cat about somewhere."
"How am I supposed to tell the difference?"
"Apart from the fact that she is female? Lick a cat demon's stomach and it turns into its demon form."
"And if it doesn't?"
"You just licked a cat's stomach. Don't believe me, wanna' try?" He pulled back his shirt, fully exposing his bare torso.
"I'll pass," she sat down on his pillow.
The demon changed back into a cat, jumping onto the big pillow. For a moment I thought he was going to nestle down, but then he padded onto my lap. He'd already retracted his claws as he laid down. Xilef looked up at me, as if he was expecting me to stroke him. His eyes were as wide as they could be in his attempt to look cute, and it was working. He purred deeply as I stroked under his chin.
"Why am I in this tower?"
"Hey, it's my tower, don't make it sound like a prison cell," he rolled onto his back, "Go on, rub my stomach. You can lick it if you want."
"So why am I in your room?" I ignored his last comment, the last thing I needed was for a half-naked youth to be laid across my lap.
"Cause Lucifer's father made a surprise visit and Luc is trying his best to keep you away from the Vampire King. Oh, that's a good spot."
"What do you mean?"
"His wife is after me, so he's after something new."
"Luc?"
"No, his father. Do the bit at the base of my neck," he rolled over again.
"What do you mean by his mother is after you?"
"She sort of has a thing for me, always after my blood, always wanting to control me. It's quite creepy really." As I massaged the base of his neck the intensity of his purrs increased.
"She scares me," he stood up, "But you don't," he put his front paws on my collar, "You're nice," he licked at my chin, "And you know something else?"
"What?"
"I can change whenever I want to." And change he did. His demon paws rested heavily on my shoulders as he looked down at me with a great smile on his face.
"Please get off me."
"Yes Xilef, get off her."
