Description
Location: The Gatehouse; the Castle of IllusionXilef sat back at his post, atop the parapet wall. In the darkness of night he sat watching as the troops of both the Land of the Morn and Dusk moved. High above the full moon hung in a red radiance, but the light did not shine down on the outer walls of the castle. His amber eyes caught the glint of swords and the assortment of other weaponry.
"Oh what have you done Lucifer? Was this your plan all along?" he whispered on the still air. Casting his eyes to the gate below, he saw the troops were already there. With some glee he pawed at the key that hung around his neck, half wondering if anyone would be bothered to look up. His own question was answered when a battering ram was brought. How they had managed to bring it through the mountains was a wonder to him. Yawning, he then took a pebble from the wall top, dropping it onto the shield wall. The soldiers looked up, and as one shouted out. Being who he was he waved down at his audience.
"It's that stupid cat," one of them growled, it was the nobleman from the Dusk; and if memory served him well then his name was Leon.
"Well stupid cat is up here, and stupider you is down there," he beamed, loving the fact he could torment the man.
"We're going to break that gate down," the noble jeered.
"Having the key would be easier, and cause less mess. If only you knew someone who had they key," he played with it, knowing that he was playing with their minds.
"You make it sound like you want to give us the key," someone else stepped forwards.
"So you're still alive. I have to admit that I'm surprised that Dusky hasn't killed you yet." The Prince of the Morn just looked back up, seemingly unconcerned by such a comment.
"What's the key going to cost?"
"If it were me, thousands. But unfortunately Lucifer has given the orders, and he says I am to give you directions if you should ask. So I suppose they key is free. Do you want it?"
"Of course we do fur ball," the noble answered.
"I don't like him, and Lucifer said I only had to listen to the Princes. Where is the other one?"
"Readying himself. Now, may we have the key?" the Prince answered.
"I'll consider it," the demon jumped behind his side of the wall.
Some moments later the gate opened, revealing a smiling cat demon. The nobleman instantly lunged out with his sword, but Xilef kicked out, hitting him in the chest and sending him stumbling backwards.
"No one touches the cat demon," the Prince ordered, glaring at the man.
"You actually seem nice," Xilef circled the Prince, "So unlike that nobleman, so like your sister."
"Where is she?"
"Here in the Castle of Illusion," he answered, changing into a cat.
"And this is the Castle of Illusion, this isn't an illusion of the castle?"
"I never thought of that as a question," he jumped onto the Prince's shoulders, curling about his neck, "But in answer I shall say that this castle is where both your sister and Lucifer currently are."
"Why are you helping us?"
"Because Lucifer ordered me to, and I do what Lucifer says."
"What are his plans?"
"I don't know, but you're rather lucky he didn't say only answer their first three questions."
"Why did he take my sister?"
"I have my suspicions."
"And they are what?"
"I'd rather not say, it isn't something I have to answer."
"So you're only obliged to help us round the castle?"
"Yes," he half yawned.
"Can you answer me this, is my sister hurt?"
"If anything she is slightly confused, but bodily she is fine."
"How is her state of mind?"
"Better than most considering the situation. The castle confuses all but the master, but it seems to be the inhabitants that affect her more than the castle itself."
"Meaning?"
"The castle has literally no effect on her."
"So-"
"We have a guide," Xilef sunk his claws into the shoulder fabric as someone wrenched him backwards. Once the grasp had loosened he turned and hissed, not caring that it was the other prince.
"You're to be our guide. Lead us to Lucifer's quarters."
Location: The Great Hall; the Castle of Illusion
I looked up at his eyes, they sparkled like emeralds. Strands of his blond hair crossed his eyes, scathing their brilliance. For the briefest of moments I glanced away.
"Don't be scared," he whispered, and I looked back at him, "I know what people say. How the nobles talk of a vampire capturing one with just a glance. They call it the Vampire's Gaze. How one who has had it cast upon them succumbs to the vampire's will."
"Why are you telling me this Luc?"
"Because I want you to know it is a falsehood. I want you to not be taken in by such a lie."
"Luc ... why am I here?"
