Description
Location: UnknownThe burden of sleep finally left my eyes, but confusion only matted my mind as my lids opened. The first thing I noticed was the relief on my lungs, the second was that I had no clue where I was. Sitting up I caught my dress as it fell slightly, and running my fingers down my back I found the top of my dress unlaced along with the first few holes of the corset. 'I found you' those were the words I had heard before I blacked everything out; no, not quite. 'Again', the last word, again. This person, I must have met them before, but that voice, it isn't familiar at all; in fact it sounded completely knew. But that touch on my shoulder, it felt like something out of a dream. But that didn't answer the question, where was I? Had the marriage gone ahead, was this the Land of the Fiery Dusk? I shuddered, just how much did I not know? Loosely tying the top of my dress I stood and went to the window. Outside was nightscape, and castle surroundings.
"Where am I?" I whispered looking out, for I had never seen this before, and I could almost swear this wasn't the Land of Dusk. Out of the window it appeared I was in the highest tower in sight. This was going to take some time.
Luc sat outside the door, drumming his fingers on the outside of his leg. His eyes were hooded, but in his mind he was concentrating on the castle, changing small details. The moon was currently going through several phases, not that you could see it from the only window in the tower. He opened his eyes as the door handle cracked. Turning his attention he stood up, the chair disappearing as he did so. Around the edge of the door appeared coppery red hair and deep green eyes. For the briefest of seconds her eyes settled on him, she then yelped and slammed the door shut.
"Hi, my name is Luc, what's yours?" he half smiled at the door. On the other side he could tell that her back was against the wall and her heart rate had increased. Knocking on the door he waited for a response. He was only mildly surprised when the door opened only moments later.
"Sorry," she apologised first, "But, where am I?"
"You're in the castle of Illusions."
"So none of this is real?
"Oh, it's real enough, it is just that most things are changeable. Your name, it's Amerisa right?"
"Erm ... yeah."
"Do you ever shorten it to something, like Amy or Risa or-"
"Amber. I like the name Amber."
"Well Amber, I'm Luc," he held his hand out. Having now fully opened the door she shook it. Her eyes showed a flicker of confusion as his hand touched hers, but she seemed to shrug it off.
"How long have I been here?"
"About half a day."
"The time, is there some special-"
"No, the timings of the day are still the same. Though I suppose they could be altered, but that would only confuse everyone."
"Just one last question."
"Sure," he beamed.
"Was I kidnapped from my wedding?" Luc rubbed the back of his head, his smile turning into laughter.
"I guess, in a way, you were. I've got things to go and do, feel free to look around."
"Won't the person who kidnapped me be angry if I leave this room?" he pretended to ponder the point before answering,
"I don't think so. Anyway, it's not like anyone can escape from the castle of Illusions."
I sat on the bed, going back over the words of the blond man. His voice did seem familiar, but I had no idea where from. I didn't know where the accent was from, and it was few times that I had met people with different accents. He seemed friendly enough, but what did he mean by no one can escape from the Castle, was he daring me to try? I was confused, so very confused. Why was I allowed to walk about this castle? But one question did stay upon my mind, who had been the one to kidnap me, and for what purpose had he done so?
Location: Xilef's Quarters; the Castle of Illusion
As the demon awoke he saw the vampire was in the room. Checking his attire first, he then turned his attention to the vampire.
"You were at the wedding, were you not Xilef?" He could tell by the elder's tone that this was not the time to answer with his usual cheek.
"I was sir."
"Why were you?"
"I thought it to be a bad idea for who you have kidnapped."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Do you still not realise what you have done, do you still not know who you have kidnapped?" he stood up defiantly, pointing a claw accusingly at Lucifer. He didn't give the prince any time to answer,
"You've gone and kidnapped the Princess of the Morn, she was meant to be married off as part of a peace treaty between the Lands of the Dusk and Morn. Do you not see, you will be hunted by both of your neighbours?"
"She's a Princess?"
"Yes you damn fool!"
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I tried to, but things got in the way."
"I took a Princess, an actual princess … she's very nice."
"You mean you plan to keep her?"
"Why ever should I not?"
"You're unbelievable."
"Unbelievable you say, I am the Master of the castle of Illusions after all."
