I realized that this was the first time that I had looked into his eyes. The emerald green seemed to shine with a relaxed happiness that didn’t suit the situation about to arise. He shut his eyes and calmly smiled. At the door I heard the people trying to force their way in. But still he was the essence of calm.
“Your answer Princess?” he opened his eyes. I turned my gaze ever so slightly so I no longer looked directly into his eyes. Only moments before he had talked of the Vampire’s Gaze, how it was used to entrance the victim into succumbing to the vampire’s will; apart from he said it was a rumour made up by nobles. At the door I heard the bolts and hinges strain under the thudding ram. Still he was calm and we danced in circles.
“Sorry, but I’ve got to press you for an answer,” his voice was as smooth as velvet. I’d lost this long ago, I’d lost this from the moment I met him; and I already knew what my answer was. As I told him my answer the doors burst open.
