Description
Irken soldiers fired as the enemy began closing in; The Tairns easily dodged the incoming fire barreling into the Irkens slamming their hands into the soldier's body's occasionally firing off a weapon. The screams of the Irkens filled the air along with the smell of gunpowder and blood. As fast as they attacked the Tairn berserkers stopped moving away from their victims running behind some buildings peeking from behind the walls watching the enemy soldiers. The Irkens looked around confused causing them to become more alert preparing themselves for what might happen next unaware that no amount of training they received could prepare them for what was about to happen. The Irkens stood in silence eyes scanning the area of the empty streets when a figure came into view causing all their blood to run cold standing before them was none other than Nexin. The Tairns flame orange eyes scanned the Irken soldiers even though there were a good number of them his emotionless expression never faltered. Not wasting anytime the Tairn shot forward grabbing the pistol from his belt as the Irkens fired off their weapons only to have the berserker dodge them. Nexin jumped landing in the center of the group of soldiers shooting down five before any of them could turn around, the Irkens turned to face their attacker more shots rang out as a few more soldiers fell to the ground dead. Struggling to stay calm the Irkens raised their weapons but the Tairn jumped up before any of them could aim down the rifles sights. The soldiers quickly jerked their rifles up in the air not even bothering to take aim firing blindly at the berserker. Nexin maneuvered his body to avoid being hit which wasn't that hard the shots were scattered most not even coming near him, his blank expression changing into a small smirk at the Irkens desperate attempt to hit him. Grabbing the combat knife from his belt he landed beside a few Irkens, and with a few swift movements slashed into their necks feeling some of the soldiers warm blood sprinkle onto his face and arm. The Tairn turned facing the Irkens charging forward, the soldiers fired but only got to fire a few more times before their guns clicked empty. Watching them trying to quickly reload their weapons, Nexin decided to take advantage of the short pause. He aimed the knife throwing it with as much force as he could causing the blade to bury itself up to the handle in a Irkens skull. By the time they reloaded Nexin was next to them his pistol raised unloading the last few shots into the group before tossing the empty gun to the ground while dodging incoming fire. Nexin jumped into the group of soldiers as some charged at him he kicked them grabbing hold of one of them using his superior strength forcing the one in his grip to face the others, placing his finger over the Irkens forcing him to pull the trigger taking out the Irkens in front of him. After they hit the ground Nexin forced the gun under the captured Irkens chin making him pull the trigger causing the soldier to kill himself with his own weapon. By now the Irken soldiers were in full blown panic with their commander dead the next in line for command could see this was a fight they couldn't win quickly making a decision without weighing out other options for at this point there weren't any other options to consider. "Everyone get to the ships we have to get out of here!" Still firing the soldiers began moving backwards, Nexin picked up one of the bodies from the ground placing it in front of him using it as a shield running at the Irkens. Reaching the group Nexin tossed the body aside grabbing the nearest soldier he pushing the muzzle of the rifle in the air tearing it out of the soldiers grasp wrapping his hand around the Irkens throat. He began to tighten his grip crushing the others wind pipe before pushing his victims head back hearing a crack. The soldier went limp in his hands he dropped him watching the body hit the ground noticing that he was no longer being fired at. Nexin looked up to see the now small group of Irkens running, he was about continue his attack on the fleeing soldiers when a familiar deep voice was heard in his head from the implanted device . "That's enough we've already gained control of Coren let them go, they'll deliver the news of what happened here to Irk. You have to leave some survivors so they could tell others about your skills. Remember Ryuu was the one the whole galaxy feared but now that she's dead It's your turn for them to be afraid of so we need survivors to help spread that fear." Nexin simply nodded, "I understand Caim." The small camera attached to the berserkers armor zoomed in scanning the area so Caim could get a look at the planet. Nexin soon heard the voice in his head again. "You made quite a mess here but you have always been eager to eliminate your targets as fast as you could." The camera moved a bit more looking at the bodies that littered the ground. "You killed a good number of them and provided a good show for me maybe I should send some of this footage to other planets like Irk did with Ryuu." "If that's what you want to do with it sir then I agree." Caim laughed, "Okay then that's what we'll do. Now I'm sending some soldiers to Coren to round up the planets inhabitants and help destroy the stations the Irkens had on the planet and start setting up our own. Once the soldiers arrive I want you to stay with them and the berserkers for a few days to help keep the Corens in line then return back to me for further orders." "Yes sir." Caims voice disappeared as Nexin walked over to the bodies on the ground kneeling down to retrieve his knife from the Irkens head wiping the blood off on the dead soldiers armor placing it on his belt before standing walking around the bodies scanning the ground till he found his pistol. Nexin picked it up examining it before ejecting the empty clip slamming in a fresh one then placing it back on his belt looking around the area disappointed, he was hoping for more of a challenge. This wasn't the first time he had killed another living thing, when on Tairn his normal training drills were to fight, and kill prototypes when he became more advanced they put him against the improved berserkers. He looked back down at the dead Irkens knowing he shouldn't have expected much when fighting them, after all they weren't as fast or strong as the berserkers he fought during training. A scowl soon appeared on his face Ryuu was the only one that would have been worth fighting to him, she was the only one that could have probably matched him in every way. Even fighting his own planets berserkers made him feel nothing the prototypes were nothing more than animals and the improved ones were more like controlled robots than anything else. He wanted to fight Ryuu she had the skills of a real soldier that could think on her own along with possessing the same speed and strength he did. Nexin clenched his fists knowing he'd never get the satisfaction he hoped for in battle if the enemy's soldiers were this easy to defeat, he wished he had been on Nork with the other Tairn soldiers. He could have fought and killed her at least Nexin would of felt satisfied not caring if the rest of the Irkens were easy to defeat the feeling of going against an opponent that was a challenge and kill them would be enough for him. He thought the Irken berserker might have still been alive when he was sent to Nork to cut the berserker symbol off her back, there was no sign of her body but Caim was sure nothing could have survived the explosion. The Tairns leader even tested the blood they found at the explosion showing it was Ryuu's proof to everyone that she was dead. He turned to the berserkers behind the building snapping his fingers they lined up before him. Nexin repeated Caims orders before telling them to remove the dead soldiers , he watched the as they began piling up the lifeless bodies before looking at the sky waiting for the soldiers arrival trying to forget about his disappointment. Back on Irk Blore, Ryuu and Ammy were in the facility's training room, about four weeks had passed since Ryuu woke up after the first week she was finally able to move around without assistants, and by the third week her flesh wounds healed up. The scars left behind were hidden beneath her cloths but unlike her other larger scars the long jagged one on her face was clear for everyone to see but she really didn't care. Her ribs were still healing but she didn't need any more medication since the small pain was bearable. With her health improving so quickly because she was a berserker the doctors gave permission for her to try going into berserk mode along with starting physical therapy. A few days earlier she was brought to a familiar room, it was large with a straight jacket pinned to the wall. They didn't know if Ryuu's memory of controlling the berserker was kept once her PAK had been reattached so if they were going to have her try turning into the berserker safety precautions had to be made. That was one of the times Ryuu didn't allow Ammy to come with her , if she couldn't control it she'd turn back into the monster she was all those years ago she never wanted Ammy to see her like that. There was also the fear that her body couldn't handle the transformation so along with the security medical personnel were standing by. Luckily neither one was needed Ryuu was able to control herself in berserk mode, and when turning back there wasn't much strain on her body she was a little tired but that was all. After proving that using the berserker wasn't a problem so the next step for her was some type of therapy. Since she had gone a few weeks without her normal training and having her body recover from the large amount of damage she received Blore couldn't start Ryuu back on her regular training routine so he just started her on Ammy's training level. So far it was going well Ryuu's body was gaining strength and getting use to combat again, she even got to train with Ammy when Blore didn't feel like pushing Ryuu too hard. This was one of the days he decided to go easy on her, Blore watched Ammy, and Ryuu go through the warm up exercises before moving from his place against the wall. "Okay I'll set the level the same as always for the first round so Ammy can go through it with you, but she'll have to sit it out the next round I'll be raising the level higher just to see how much you can handle Ryuu." The two Irkens nodded turning around as Blore set up the course. The training droids came at her and Ammy quickly the two took them out, as said once the last droid was down Ammy moved to stand next to Blore as he set the level higher moving himself and Ammy back putting up a clear shield to protect them from debris. The droids came out faster than before firing out lasers that Ryuu dodged running up behind a few taking them out Blore was impressed by her performance after what she went through everyone was surprised she survived at this rate he could start having her train in berserk mode within a few days. When the last droid fell Blore removed the shield smaller droids had already sped in beginning to clean up the damaged training droids. The targets now cleared Ryuu relaxed her body out of a defense stance panting while rubbing her side her ribs still felt stiff and sore sometimes the doctor said the feeling would disappear completely in a few days. She heard Blores voice turning to see him and Ammy walking up to her, "Excellent your recovering nicely I'll set up another appointment with the doctor in a couple of days to hand in the reports of your progress ,and to see if you're ready to start using the berserker again . Ryuu nodded trying to stretch out the stiffness in her sides, she still couldn't believe how much had happened in a short amount of time. Two weeks after she woke up the bodies of the soldiers and the two commanders were brought back to Irk for burial. Ryuu attended the funerals giving a speech having them buried with honor in the memorial cemetery for their sacrifice for Irk realizing how close she was to joining them. Her thoughts were interrupted by her friends voice, "Ryuu teach me to do that as fast as you." Ryuu smiled at the younger Irkens . "I don't know it'll take a few years and I'm sure you won't ever have to use it." Ammy pouted, "Hey you never know I might need it ." the older Irken chuckled "I'll think about it." Knowing that was the only answer she was going to get the younger Irken smiled before Blore spoke up. "Ryuu the Tallest received some new reports from our invaders on Tairn look through them by the end of the week." "Yes sir." She was glad the Irkens hadn't been discovered yet but she was still worried about them, most of the information she got was about the enemies society along with some footage and data they managed to get on Nexin. Both of the information filled Ryuu with fear and rage. She learned how cruel Caim really was instead of having the berserkers so his people felt safe, they were terrified because of them. Caimed used the berserkers to have complete control so no one would cross him. It seemed the one who was most feared was Nexin with good reason she watched the footage gathered on him , he was trained to love warfare instead of training with droids like she had Nexin trained with other soldiers mostly prisoners captured from other planets but on occasion other Tairn soldier or the berserkers, killing every opponent brought to him. Ryuu couldn't even sit through the videos; she had only seen him on transmissions and one time when heading to Nork only that time ships were the only thing between them. She didn't know what to expect when they finally got to face each other. Blore looked like he was about to speak stopping when his communicator went off. "Yes what it is? What!" At the sound off his voice the two younger Irkens turned facing him, "I'll be right there, yes I'll bring her with me." He cut the call turning to the two young Irkens. "Ryuu come with me something's happened I'll explain on the way." Ryuu nodded turning to her friend, "Stay her I'll have someone come in so you can continue training if you want I'll call you later." Ammy nodded watching the two Irkens race out the door. Running down the hall Blore explained the situation, "Since Caim thinks you're dead he decided to start taking the planets Irk owns getting them to fear Nexin now that your gone. They've gained control of Coren but that's all I know we'll get more information once we get there." The two burst through the facility's main doors jumping into Blores Voot cruiser driving off towards the air base. On arrival medical cruisers were already on the scene taking the injured soldiers away leaving the rest for questioning, Ryuu stood in one spot taking everything in sad to see the scared and defeated faces of the soldiers . A few minutes later the Tallest arrived beginning to question the soldiers apparently some Tairn berserkers led by Nexin attacked the Irkens stationed on Coren killing most of them before driving the rest off the planet. While explaining the information they gathered to Ryuu one of the surviving soldiers saw her quickly standing up walking up to her in shock. "Ryuu your alive Caim said you were dead but here you are. Ha I knew it would take more than that to kill the great Ryuu, so what are the plans to get back at them?" Ryuu remained silent seeing the hopeful look on the soldiers face knowing it would soon disappear, taking a deep breath she replied. "There isn't one." The Irkens face fell, "What do you mean there has to be a plan Irk doesn't back away from things like this!" "I know but there's nothing I can do rig…" The soldier cut her off anger filling his face and voice as he shot his hands forward clutching the front of her shirt in his fists. "Nothing you can do that's bull you're the berserker you're supposed to protect us not sitting here when the enemy is possibly doing the same thing to other Irkens stationed on the planets we conquered!" Ryuu turned her head from his intense gaze whishing she could do something about all this but her body wasn't ready to face this threat. Soon she felt the soldier release her shirt turning to see that Blore had pulled him off her, his calm appearance vanishing his voice raised toward the Irken in his grasp. "Quiet you're lucky to have faced them and survive unscaved. Did you ever think of what Ryuu had to go through look at her!" He grabbed the soldiers head having him stare at Ryuu's face. In his shocked then angered phase he didn't notice the long scar running down her face and how tired she looked. Sighing the soldier relaxed causing Blore to release him as he turned looking back at the young Irken. "I'm sorry Ryuu I was just in shock over this incident I didn't realize what might have happened to you on Nork." Ryuu smiled placing a hand on his shoulder, "It's alright I understand." The soldiers gave a small smile before walking back to the others, Ryuu turned to Blore smiling. "Thank you." Blore gave a slight nod, " I'm going to talk with the Tallest and soldiers go back home I'll copy down any new information we gathered and send it to you." Without waiting for a reply he turned walking over to the group. A cruiser was called to take Ryuu back to the facility; she opened her front door walking into the house falling onto the couch on her back. Clenching her hands into a fists slamming it into the cushions this whole situation frustrated her Irk was under threat and she was stuck here not able to do anything about it she wasn't even sure if she could protect Irk from this. Ryuu laid there staring at the ceiling wanting to have time to calm herself before calling her friend, She closed her eyes for only a few seconds when she heard her front door open followed by a familiar voice. "Hey big sis." Before she could turn her head the younger Irken ran into the house jumping up landing on the older Irken. Ryuu grunted when Ammy's weight slammed into her before smiling looking down at the young Irken whose head was placed on her stomach. " Hi little sis how did you know I was home already?" Ammy raised her head resting her chin on Ryuu's stomach freezing for a moment, she thought she felt the scar left behind by one of the bullet wounds beneath the older Irkens shirt but still smiled up at Ryuu. "I didn't I thought I should just wait here rather than go home just to come all the way back here when you called." Ryuu patted Ammy's head, "Good thinking my young friend." Smiling Ammy hugged her adopted older sister snuggling the side of her face into the older Irkens stomach happy to finally cuddle with her trying to ignore the bumps of the scars along with the image of the injuries that left them there. That was probably why Ryuu didn't let her fully cuddle her , well that and the fact the older Irken never had someone get close to her that wasn't throwing punches or kicks at her. At first Ryuu only allowed Ammy to rest her head on her shoulder and only hold onto her left arm like she did after they returned from Kul that's when the Tairns first showed their berserkers. Ryuu felt Ammy needed it after the terrifying experience she had. With some work she got Ryuu to start cuddling more but she always put a blanket or something over her having Ammy lay on top of it to hide the feeling of the larger scars but not now since Ammy already saw most of them . Once Ammy finally got Ryuu open to cuddling she became busy with plans for the battle on Nork , even when Ryuu woke up Ammy didn't cuddle or hug her much afraid of hurting her. She felt Ryuu move her hand off her head allowing the younger Irken to turn her head a bit to look up. "So what was so important that you and Blore had to run out of the training room?" Ryuu's body tensed up , she knew she couldn't stay quiet or lie it would be put on the news in a matter of days ,and she didn't want Ammy to find out that way. Taking a deep breath to relax Ryuu told Ammy what happened leaving out the part with the angered soldier reminding herself to also make sure it stayed out of the news report later on. Ammy tightened her arms around the older Irken scared, and Ryuu wasn't surprised by the reaction if the Tairns weren't afraid of Irk who knows what they'd do. It was silent for a while till Ammy spoke up. "Ryuu what if they attack Irk?" She started trying to ease her friends fear , "They won't Blore still has battle vessels and cruisers patrolling around Irk , the berserkers may be powerful soldiers to face on the ground but in the air their just like any other pilot I'm sure they'd be shot down before they reach the planet. Ammy's hold hadn't loosened that much wanting to make her feel safe Ryuu placed her hand on her adopted little sisters head petting her. "If any did manage to get on the planet I'll get rid of them then attack their planet making them pay for everything they've done to Irk and our people." Ammy looked up, "Are you sure?" Ryuu nodded smiling down at her, "Course I'm sure I'm a berserker after all I'll send them running back to Tairn in no time." Ammy's grip loosened showing she had relaxed, Ryuu reached for the remote turning on the TV handing the control to Ammy who flipped through the channels before picking something dropping the remote snuggling into Ryuu feeling her older friend hug her back. Ryuu wasn't really paying attention to the show her mind was still on the situation her planet was in, she didn't know if she'd be able to do what she told her friend. They didn't know if the enemy would try to attack Irk head on and if she would be well enough to fight back if it happened. But she was going to do everything in her power to become stronger, to protect Irk and everyone on it.
