Very funny, though I find the raptor's lack of feathers a bit odd.

Haha thank you very much.
The feathers are just hypothetical for the whole raptors family (dromaeosauridae)

Well, we've got enough evidence of feathered dinosaurs in that general area of the theropoda - including, if I recall correctly, at least one dromaeosaurid from China with feathers - that it's probably safe to assume that feathers were fairly common for them.

Still, I can understand not drawing one with feathers - for one thing, an unfeathered raptor has a certain look to it that's very familiar to a lot of people, largely thanks to Jurassic Park.

One of the things because the saurians are so facinating is that we'll never know exactly how they look like. We're facinated by that we immagine in part. Of course I read a lot of scientific theories and when I start drawing them or writing about them I always took their skeletons in reference, just that. But the signs of feathers on theropods wich are more and more evident actually will stay definitively in doubt and it's one of the reasons why I like immaginate them, it's free.
For sure their was raptors, deinonychus, Tyrannosauridae, allosauridae, ornitholestes and every kinds of theropods between them except perhaps spinosauridae wich was fearthered, but I don't think that's was whole of them. (I think I don't want it haha) Like today you have white tigers, big spotted cheetahs or hairless cats. (I know, it's a bad comparison, we'll never find a bird without feathers (because feathers are used to fly in fact) and.. hum. I think my comment became to long I'm sorry :/ haha

In fact it's so hard to express myself in english, my vocabulary is so bad and I can't explain exactly what I want, but It's a pleasure to speak about dinosaurs, it's so rare, I'm a litte alone with this passion haha.

A last word about Jurassic Park.. A lot of errors in it, velociraptors are deinonychus, dilophosaurus too small (but Nedry say it's a child) for example, but this movie is the perfect illustration for my idea. Dinosaurs are dreams. Dragons of the past. They became a myth. We can see them as we want in appearence or in life. (And Spielberg had realize my dreams with this movie haha)

Well, of course, half of what we think we know about any of these animals is conjecture - why, just within the past couple of years I've started hearing hypotheses about Tyrannosaurids being pack-hunting animals.

I can fully understand why you might not want feathered dinosaurs all that much - they are a bit funny looking sometimes. And don't worry about your reply being too long, I've pretty much got all the time in the world to read it.

Yeah, Jurassic Park was a big bucket of errors - the fact that they couldn't even use a real species name for the Dilophosaurus still bugs me more than its size or the poison, to be honest - but it was a fun movie, and it's all some people know about the Dinosauria.

Zombiraptor In reply to Adroth-Rian [2011-12-08 00:31:46 +0000 UTC]

Hum well... I don't know.. hum.. I'm always imaginating raptors living and I wanted to show one of them on a tree like a panther. And after I find that adding a platypus could be funny. That's not more complicated haha.
Just I think raptors and platypus could have been good friends.. For sure
