Here's my crack at Archie's Sonic Versus Villain contest. ;DIt would be awesome if anyone could give me some good crit before I send this off to Archie. Deadline is Wednesday and I don't wanna send it in with any glaring mistakes. n.n;;
Can I do anything without a hint of comedy? Apparently not.
Edit 1: Made a few little tweaks thanks to a very helpful comment. ;D
Edit 2: Trimmed down Sonic's muzzle a bit. Thanks!

Thank you SO much for this! This is probably the best critique I've recieved on DA, or any other online art site for that matter. So I just wanted to start out by saying how grateful I am for that!
It's such a pain that I decided to send my entry in moments before I got your critique... I'm way too impatient! But I'm taking your crits onboard anyway, as they'll definitely help me in the future.
I have to agree with pretty much everything you've said here. Some of it I noticed for myself but wasn't sure how to remedy. The shadows under Miles and Tails got scrapped when I made the previous edit to shrink them down, then forgot to put the shadows back in -- doh! Very good eye.
Totally agree with you on the color of the trees in the back.. I knew something was off but I wasn't sure what and you hit the nail on the head. The ones firther back needed the atmospheric perspective, whereas the ones closer needed more saturation. Thank you for pointing this out, I only wish I'd waited those couple extra minutes to send in my entry so I could have fixed it!
The placement of their names was partly for color contrast but also because I ran into a spacing issue, to be honest XD Scourge's name fit so much more neatly along that side than it did down below. I can see how this would cause some visual "huh?"s, though. I'll have to think it through a bit better in the future.
I really have to thank you for the critique on the brow cleft thing. This is something that's plagued me ever since Sega redesigned Sonic. Because I love to draw characters pulling faces and making expressions with their eyes, I find it so difficult to figure out what to do with those crazy brow-cleft things! XD Your suggestions should really help.
Anyway, I can't say enough how much this critique has helped and is appreciated!

Aww, shucks! I'm so sorry that I didn't get my critique in sooner! I was really rushing to get it all written out in time, but I guess it was too late. I'm still glad it helped out for future work, though! I'm very afraid of coming off as picky or rude, so I try to explain things as clearly and politely as possible.
I figured that their shadows may have just accidentally been forgotten about since the edit. I remember seeing them before! ;D
The trees still look great, but I noticed the color differences pretty quickly. Mostly because of the bright ones in the back.
I like the addition of names, and I figured placement was due to the dimensions of the image. A comic book cover artist would have done the same thing!
The clefts boggle every Sonic artist's mind. xD

Looks like it could have been a Sonic Archie cover to me. That would be an awesome and change of pace of the covers at that time. And the hedgehogs look similar to the their designs in that arc to (done by Tracy Yardley! of course) Right down to the shading of the hedgehog's fur colors!
Like the scuffle in the back there, though I thought Sally and Alicia were slapping each other! XD And Sonic having a joke at Scourge's expense? Good ol' Sonic.
