I like to imagine there’s adapter ports between some advanced power beaming module and more “primitive” underwater cable. Tech is all over the place, sometimes your detritus quality Monitoring machine is being used alongside a some Black box device able to beam energy in a tight beam in deep high pressure water. A bit ornate a solution but it gets the job done and it was what they happened to have at the time.
