Description
Despite having walked through the castle many times before, Rapunzel felt increasingly uneasy with every step she took knowing that Maleficent was free. The eerie green hues that barely eliminated the stone walls were no less comforting. One couldn't be sure whether the wicked faerie was actually there or not. The former lost princess once again found herself lost. Stumbling up a spiral stairwell, she made her way towards a warm, shining light. The source was a familiar face of an object. Or more accurately, an object with a familiar face, standing on a ledge within the wall. "Mademoiselle Rapunzel!" came a suave, French accented voice. "What are you doing here?"Rapunzel was startled for a second, but was instantly relieved to see the friend of a friend. "Oh!", she began. "Hello, Lumiere! I was just looking for Belle. Clopin and I haven't seen her all day. Do you know where she is?"
The candelabra gave a shrug. "I am afraid I am just as much in the dark as you are, cherie." he answered.
"Speaking of the dark," said Rapunzel coyly gesturing to him, "would you mind if I um...?"
"Not at all!" Lumiere replied happily, straightening himself up. "Thanks!" said Rapunzel. She gently took Lumiere in hand and continued to make her way up the stairs. Upon reaching the top, the corridor before them seemed to go on for ages. The two cautiously treked further into the part of the castle in which no windows or doors were present. Even though Rapunzel could see a bit better now, and despite the illuminating company, the idea of any sudden surprises was no less desirable. Indeed, both Rapunzel and Lumiere could only hope that they might find their missing companion at the end of the hallway instead of any unpleasant goons...or worse.

I've wanted to draw this scenario for ten years now, but I knew I wouldn't be able to do it justice until I had more practice with light. Having had this on my "to-draw" list for for so long though, there's something dreadfully underwhelming about having finally done it. Even now, after all this time, I still don't think I did it justice. Who knows. Maybe in another ten years, I'll come back to this and fix it so that it looks more accurate to how I imagined it.
For now, I hope you like it.
Characters are Disney's, artwork is mine.
