Description
Here is a Pokémon from my Brilliant Diamond Hardcore Nuzlocke. This is Rasputin the Murkrow, who I caught in the Grand Underground, I believe in Spacious Hole.
I named him Rasputin because that is the Danish name of the raven owned by Magica de Spell (whose Danish name is Hexia de Trix), not knowing that the raven's English name is Poe de Spell.
Like, seriously, Rasputin is a MUCH better name than POE!!! For a corvid, anyway!
And because of his name, I absolutely love him. I like Murkrow, it's a cool bird. Corvids are amazing birds, super smart, has that edgy atmosphere, cunning and sassy, can learn human speech just as well, if not better, than parrots, and they are quite timid and cautious, if you've ever seen videos of various birds being tested on by going through puzzles to get food.
I've never seen a raven in my life, they're quite rare here in Denmark, only about 200 pairs or something, due to persecution in the old days because of beliefs that they were tied to dark magic. And because they slaughter livestock pretty gorily. They can peck a live pig's intestines out, or maybe it was ducks or chickens, but either way, they were seen as pests and now they're endangered.
They are doing better now, but still rare. Crows, rooks, jackdaws and magpies are still widely common though, we have a family of magpies living in our garden, and sometimes we're visited by noisy jackdaws and huge rooks.
I think jackdaws are kinda cute with their white eyes and bandit masks, it would be cool to have a pet one of those. Rooks are very loud and big, and they have naked faces kinda like vultures, but their feathers are actually kinda pretty, having metal sheen in black and purple. Magpies have black, blue and green metal sheen tail feathers, maybe also wing.
Crows don't really visit us, ever, but we do see a lot of them outside our home. The most common crow here is the gray crow, with the black crow being more exclusive to Jylland, I think. Never seen a black crow either.
Ravens are ENORMOUS though, they actually get bigger than BUZZARDS, which are our most common bird of prey/raptor species. Kestrels are also quite common, but they're much smaller.
I also have only heard raven calls in, like, Balto 2 and a few videos on talking ravens, so I'm not familiar with raven calls. I think they have a strangely high pitched call though, higher than crows and definitely rooks?
The Danish word for rook is "råge" which sounds like "råbe", which means "yell", because they yell all the time. XD
Jackdaw is called allike, crow is krage, magpie is skade (husskade, actually, means "house injury") and raven is ravn.
I have once seen a jay, which is called "skovskade" (forest injury), which is also a corvid, and it was actually in a city with some forested area. It's a pretty bird, not that common in Denmark.
There are two others that I don't remember what their names are and definitely don't know their English names, and they are also pretty rare in Denmark, I think one of them may even never have been seen in Denmark before (despite being listed in my book of Danish birds???). One is called a nøddekrige, I think (nut wars). The other, I think, is called a lavskrige (lycan scream).
Wow, this ended up being more about corvids than Murkrow or Pokémon LOL
You can probably tell that I like corvids! XD
Birds are hard to draw, but I think this one turned out great.
Also, birds have pointy tongues, but Murkrow images look like they're showing a round tongue, which is wrong, so I decided to make mine more pointy.
I always make my bird tongues pointy. Looks better.
Okay, parrots may have round tongues, but I dunno about corvids. Birds are weird.
Hope you like this.
