she. is not dead.

[Wolfsong managed to get out of the collapsing Windclan camp, but not without injury. As she attempts to make sure her clan is safe, a pair of massive, glowing eyes appears in the sky. The Windclan deputy is frozen to the spot, shocked by what stared down at her.]

Wolfsong's death save, bit late.

Wolfsong looked up at the sky, a rumble of thunder disrupting her discussion with Palestar. The wind had picked up steadily, by then tossing small shrubs across the grassy hills, the wind tearing at the grass as if to tear it up. A shudder ran through the ground, causing Wolfsong to look to her leader, words bubbling up in her throat. Questions, suggestions, commands- it didn’t matter what the deputy was about to say as the ground gave way beneath her. Solid ground became a void, sending dirt, rocks, and cats tumbling down.

...Wolfsong wasn’t completely sure what happened after that. One moment she was falling and the next she stood by Palestar on a ridge, looking down at the ruins of the Windclan camp. Blood streamed down the left side of her face, and suddenly Wolfsong realized that she was bleeding, a large gash on her brow. Unsure of how she had gotten it, the deputy could take a guess considering her ribs and side screamed at her in pain.

Trying to shake it, Wolfsong went closer to the edge, sometimes helping to haul her escaping clan out if they couldn’t get a good grip. As she watched the cats stream by, she realized with horror that some hadn’t made it out. Either that or they escaped before she did. Hoping for the best, she couldn’t lose any more, Wolfsong turned to Palestar.

   Light engulfed the camp.

Looking up, Wolfsong was met with a large, glowing orb. The moon? No. Frozen in shock, Wolfsong looked up to see the single orb wasn’t the moon, but one of a pair. Massive, glowing eyes looking down at her and her clan, unblinking. Whatever the being was, it vanished soon after, leaving the cats it had shocked to regain themselves and to continue to escape.

After, Palestar commanded the cats to move to the hills, abandoning the camp.

Unwilling to leave behind those she believed to be left behind, Wolfsong stayed with one promise- to not go back into the wreckage to search. So the deputy stayed there, shivering in the cold and soaked, body aflame with pain and blood matting her coat. Hazel eyes scanned the ground below her post, desperate to see a pelt.

She was terrified. Wolfsong, as much as cats knew her as the dauntless and cold deputy of Windclan, did feel fear. And now, she could only stare as her anxiety and terror engulfed her. She hadn’t seen Spiderpaw, she hadn’t seen Lizardchase or Frostfeather. Where was Whitehawk? Despite all she had tried, she hadn’t made sure her clan, her life and only love, was safe- and it killed her.

After what was certainly hours, Wolfsong stared in defeat at the ruins. Nothing had moved except more falling debris. If no one had shown, then no one was alive most likely. Turning, Wolfsong shut her eyes, refusing to look as she turned from what could possibly be a clan mate in need.

Claws digging into the mud, she ran.

Wolfsong ran as hard as she could, ignoring the pain shooting through her. She was already far behind, and she had to find where her clan went. Up ahead of her, the deputy swore she could see figures. A dark mass, her clan. Running faster, heaving for breath, she ran to her clan. As she grew closer though, she stopped. The dark mass wasn’t her clan huddled for warmth- it was a boulder.

Something foreign settled in her, something she had either never felt or had blocked from her memory. A desperation mixed with fear, an emotion that caused anger to fill her chest only to be doused as coldness choked her.

   She was alone.

bust (12) + lineart (10) + color (10) + shading (15) = 47
47 + complex background (25) = 72

wc (617) / 10 = 61
61 x 3 = 183

183 + 72 = 255
