The sore loser Shao Kahn Has a knack a plan to overturn the rules of the tournament. revive his former Queen Sindel on the main earth. This would allow Shao Kahn to cross the boundary lines and reclaim his queen.
When Sindel is reincarnated in Earthrealm, Shao Kahn is able to reach across the dimensions to reclaim her. As a consequence of this action, Earthrealm becomes a part of Outworld, instantly stripping billions of their souls turning them in to stone. Only a few are spared, as Gandalf sacrifice himself to protects their souls. His last words is tells them that Shao Kahn must be stopped, and they must work together to defeat him. Thus, beginning the War of Warner Brothers.
