How are you?

quiltyspark In reply to 118HaloMan [2013-05-09 15:20:16 +0000 UTC]

Slightly surprised by myself, and I'm not sure if it is in a good way, yet. Moving out and becoming self sufficient has taken more that I had thought, I knew it would be a difficult journey with it's own unique trials and pitfalls, but it has left we with 2 things. A greater appreciation for the fleeting captions where God reveals a direction for my life, and confirms if by showing me the potential that is now in me due to the training thus far. Two a greater appathy for the mundanities for uni life, where the bleak drudge of one assignment after another pales in comparison to the amazing narrative that I am a part of in Christ. Unfortunately, due to the later, I have realised that regardless of how I feel about the situation, the institution of the university requires me to tick all the boxes, sign yes sir no sir, 3 bags full sir, and submit the blasted assignments to ( and I'll turn my own phrase here ) retain the open windows in life that may facilitate a more readily inacted change directed by God. In short, keeping options open in the eyes of my peers and lectures (+future employers) whilst retaining the motivation to be where God wants me.......... I think this is the right way to go.

So yeah interesting senario with many other underlying discoveries and overarching Theologies, but at present it is 1 am and work starts in 5 hours FUN!

How are you going. It's been so long since we talked that I can't even remember the last update I had, well not without going searching for the conversation... wherever it is.

I think so too, quilty! If you feel it's God's direction for you to be there, than all power to ya my friend~ And may the Lord bless you in all you do.

Wow though, you go to work at 6 am? must be pretty tough getting up so early, huh?

Anyway, I know though! It has been far too long since we've spoken. I'm very happy to hear you're doing well!

I've been going pretty good! Thanks for asking. Just been trying to practice algebra as of late, and improve my drawing and writing skills.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

quiltyspark In reply to 118HaloMan [2013-05-11 16:16:03 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure how much help I can be with Algebra from 1/3 of the way across the globe, but if you want to talk about something, or just get hype about a break through in understanding let me know, I'm all over this algebra stuff man!

6 am isn't to bad. It can get a little bit interesting if you don't stay diligent and got to sleep early enough, but you get used to it. I still can't wrap my head around bakkers, 2am start... 2 AM!

Hope the drawing and writing goes well. I am currently ( As of today ) trying to find a bit more time to put towards practising bass, as I have a bass guitar to call my very own now... I'm so happy ^-^ It makes me go

d(-.-)b

Listening to all the new flows. I'm finding just making my own sound that is pleasing to my ear, and offering that up as praise, so much more enjoyable than trying to work through reams of tabs, to learn songs that are already recorded.

Hehe, I really appreciate the offer quilty, Thank you, but have you ever heard of a site called, "coolmath.com"? It's this really wonderful math site created by a college math teacher. And I've been trying to learn off there.

I can understand, if you go to bed early, (something I don't do too often. ) it wouldn't be too hard getting up. But wow! 2 am?! Yikes~

Thank you very much, quilty! Bass guitar, huh? That sounds sweet man~ I hope you can find some more time to practice.

I hope to maybe learn how to play the piano one day.

But, I hope you have a pleasant day/night man. And if you have the time, I'm sure Kat would love to hear from you. God Bless~

Coolmath hey, I'll give it a look. Having a couple of extra online resources up one's sleeve is never a bad thing as a teacher in training cheers. The other fairly well known cite that you might consider in KhanAcademy, it is mostly video lessons, where the lecture draws using a graphics tablet, and narrates. They can sometimes be long winded, but for something when you feel like your walking into a new topic with nothing, it conveniently provides all or most of the foreknowledge.

Today Australia Celebrated Mothers day, a time to reflect on the year that has been and all that, but with particular regard to one's mother. Just wondering if you have something similar,a specific day, or whether most of these such holidays are atoned by Thanksgiving?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

118HaloMan In reply to quiltyspark [2013-05-13 10:25:58 +0000 UTC]

KhanAcademy, huh? Sounds interesting~ Thank you!

Did you have a good time?

Yeahhh, we celebrate lots of holidays in America. Such as, Mothers Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas. How many do you have in Australia?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

quiltyspark In reply to 118HaloMan [2013-05-15 05:24:18 +0000 UTC]

Some say we have too many, I think that the number of public holidays we have is adequate enough. Between ANZAC day, Australia day and the Queen's Birthday, Christmas and Easter long weekends, we do alright. There are several other calender events Like mothers and fathers day, and probably plenty of lesser known ones as well... None of which I can recall, ooo Valentines day, ha!... Nope, that's all.

A good time? On mothers day I presume is the reference, yes. It was glorious. I was only at my parents for afternoon tea, but the food, oh my. One practically swoons just thinking about it. Also it was really cool to give mum a present that she could not only enjoy but show off to all her friends and family, and be excited about.

As a basic synopsis, mother inherited a float dish from her grand-mother and found out after some investigations, that it was likely made of uranium glass, I after further investigation found that the glass could be tested under UV light, and promptly bought a uv LED torch, and it worked, to quite a superb effect. I'm a little sad that my brother couldn't make it, his SLR camera may have actually been able to do the effect justice.

SCIENCE!!!

Yeah? We have a lot more in America that I didn't mention, (Or forgot too ) buuuut, It's never a bad thing to have too many holidays~ If you don't mind me asking, what is ANZAC day, and Australia day all about?

Yes, I probably should of added Mother's Day in that sentence. XD But man, that sounds real nice quilty.

Wowza, that sounds very fascinating! You have a brother though quilty?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

quiltyspark In reply to 118HaloMan [2013-05-15 12:30:53 +0000 UTC]

In deed I do, I have only the one sibling, one older brother, and we share many commonalities, but are very uniquely our own individual.

ANZAC day; specifically remembers those fallen and serving in battles in war, similar I presume to remembrance day. The Australian New Zealand Army Core is the main focus of the day, having served at Gallipoli, considered by many as the most outstanding battle historically speaking not victoriously speaking by any means. The Diggers as they are know are remembered for their sacrifice for Country and freedom, and most ceremonies of remembrance are a somber affair.

Australia day is a much more jocundity of all things stereotypically Australian. Meant as a National pride building public holiday the masses for the most part view it as a good day to get drunk have a BBQ with their mates, and cavort in innumerable ways. I, being a teetotaller, refrain from the common binge and usually elect a more high brow... I must be getting tired... I'm becoming more 16th century England in dialect... Anywho, it's considered a good time, and the facebook and reddit Australia pages generally explode with patriotic amusements. Good times for all.

Wonderful~ I have an older brother, and sister myself.

Yes. It does sound similar to Memorial day. Thank you for telling me about it, quilty.

Haha, well that sounds nice~ Or... not so much the drunk part, but having a good ol' barbie with friends and family would be pleasant. Thank you again for telling me about all this quilty.

Thanks ok, it was a pleasure reminiscing about the last few years experience as I typed it out, years prior to those of course have been lost in forgotten memory.

I have to find something to do for the next 45 minutes, then I get to go out. It is the most exciting thing to be happening this week, and I'm hoping that the night does not let me down. I'm am going for my first band practice. I have no idea what to expect, I've spent so much time playing bass just in my own style I have now idea how to go about integrating my limited ability into a more social scene. hmmm, more quandries that will be left unanswered until the proper time.

Cheerio

Really?! That's sweet! I hope the practice goes well for ya! Best of luck out there.

See ya~

quiltyspark In reply to 118HaloMan [2013-05-16 11:50:38 +0000 UTC]

Actually it went great. I picked up the songs really quick, spent most of the time not knowing what progression we were up to ( chorus or bridge and such ) but it was certainly the most fun I've had with a bass...
They said they would have a talk sometime during the week, and a pray, and get back to me whether or not they thought I would be a good compliment to the pre-existing band, it seemed to go well though, so I'm quietly optimistic, as I was created to be.

Not bad. I moved out of my parents place into the big wide world 2 weeks ago and have been without internet except for that which I peruse while at uni. This intern now means that I am officially in full time study with a casual employment, and have now got less time in my day, which I didn't really think possible, but apparently is. Oh well back to work. I have emails to write and game law to concoct.

See these are the types of things that make me wonder. You know that you are loved by a living God, that redeemed you back into glory... Why pass this around, if you know your already loved?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

118HaloMan In reply to quiltyspark [2013-01-22 13:53:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh! So this is what you must have been talking about. quilty please friend, these things are just for fun that people pass around DA to their friends. They're really not to be taken serious. I know that I am loved by God, and his love is all I need! I'm sorry if this offended you in any way......

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

quiltyspark In reply to 118HaloMan [2013-01-22 15:45:04 +0000 UTC]

I wasn't offended, I was just perplexed by what was motivating the sharing. It's all very encouraging, perhaps not the mode I would take but that ok, it is actually the tag at the end. " if you get 7 back" the if, creates a condition. In a discipleship that has a focus on learning to agape, love unconditionally, it seems like a strange addition. The truth of the matter, is we are loved unconditionally, regardless of how many we 'get back'.

I have the same reaction to the abominations on Facebook, that say quote "do if your a real Christian" or phrase a similar sentiment... Its just not very... Christianly.

I'm in the process of forming a reply to the note that you sent me, after some time thinking about it, I would prefer to open conversation about it, all of which is predicated on an assumption of why you sent it to me. I'll send you a note when I have my thoughts together and am not trying to catch up on a week of uni lectures and classes. Talk soon
