Say, have you seen any of the movies of Akira Kurosawa?

Sorry, no. I'm not familiar with his work (just looked him up).

The-Happy-Spaceman In reply to simpleCOMICS [2014-11-12 03:36:22 +0000 UTC]
Hm. Well, the reason I bring him up is because I saw The Avengers recently, and it seriously reminds me of Kurosawa's film Seven Samurai. In Seven Samurai, the movie starts off with a dark, faceless evil threatening the town, and an old, bald samurai decides to recruit a team of younger samurai to fight it off, including a witty and sarcastic warrior with less skill, a former lieutenant in the military who joins the team with a sense of duty, and a good-natured tough guy adept with archery. It also involves a close friend of the team dying and giving the once-split team a common reason to fight, and even has a big final battle that takes place in a large village or city.
And I know that the Avengers' characters have been around since the '60s, but still, I wouldn't be surprised if Joss Whedon was taking influence from Kurosawa when making The Avengers.
P.S.: The Avengers was an amazing movie.

In one of Whedon's interviews on the Avengers blu-ray, he mentioned Seven Samurai as one of his favorite movies growing up. I'm sure there was some influence there. I never saw the movie, but I know it's considered one of the most influential films on other filmmakers. So yeah, you're probably right about that.

Hey Jason, I had a little problem with your art
I tried linking your story arc of "My Little Bunny" to my fellows on Derpibooru (an MLP fan website). It... wasn't received well.
derpiboo.ru/tags/artist-colon-β¦
Yeah, as you can see they pretty much hated all your art. Everybody was commenting stuff like, "Where's the pony? This has nothing to do with My Little Pony!" except for the fact that it has EVERYTHING to do with My Little Pony and you ARE a good cartoonist. Weird.
Anyway,Β I discovered today that unfortunately I can't take it down, so... forgive me?

I guess I can appreciate the publicity. I actually had a pretty entertaining time reading through the comments over there. I am not insulted by criticism, so it doesn't bother me.Β But I really would prefer to be asked beforehand next time. Bronies are a pationate people, and I'd rather not be on the other end of their wrath if I can avoid it.

Alright, sorry. I wasn't planning on linking anything else there--at least not after their reaction to this stuff.
"Bronies are a pationate people, and I'd rather not be on the other end of their wrath if I can avoid it."
Bronies are a terror. Hearts of the Internet. Bronies are cowardly. A superstitious, terrible omen. A cowardly lot. Bronies are a superstitious, cowardly lot.
