A question for ALL of the community:

Do you feel like you can post your opinion, even if it goes against how the rest of the community feels?

I don't (much) see constructive criticism on pieces, mostly just praise... which is GREAT! i love giving someone a palm on the back for containing in a page, if only for a second, sentiments that are infinitely complex. But i feel REALLY bad being the only post visible with a "well, you gotta work on this." vibe.

soo... I'd love it if you guys tore my works a new one [constructively]. (picking out misspellings, grammatical errors, and pointing out cliches. expressing if it was a boring read etc. AND making it illegal to only say "wow awesome.") If i started seeing more "you gotta work on this" posts, then I (and i believe at least a few others) would be less shy in DA lit. communities as a whole.

or u know... just ignore me.

If that's really what you want, note me a few pieces you would like torn apart. That's my specialty, and it takes me a long time to write them. I don't do it often, because the author usually says, "Thanks for your opinion, but I don't agree with anything and am not changing anything." Which makes me feel like I just wasted my time, and it makes me sad, too. Writing isn't just about the first draft--revising is a major part of it. Usually, I don't expect them to make *all* the changes I suggest, but one or two would be nice.

That is exactly what happened last week, when i read a chapter of a short story for a good writer, which you must admit, most people don't take the time to read a WHOLE chapter. Totally felt like i had just wasted my time... hence my original comment you're replying to.

well really, the one's i'd like feedback on are the ones that are hidden >.< hahaha. can i link you to stuff that's in storage(like is it possible)?.. i'm afraid of people staring at my unedited and "bad" stuff.. though i don't think the ones that aren't hidden are much better hehe.

hmm... i think hearing how people feel about your work is part of being an artist, so i disagree with the people don't want feedback @.@ can't imagine why.

You know.. I've never been able to "fix" a poem hehe.
what i mean is i RARELY edit my stuff.
I have an idea/feeling, i write it out. When i go back i don't have that feeling anymore so the only thing i do when "editing" is take away unneeded stuff :/ trim, trim, trim.

that's why the poem is long x) i haven't trimmed it yet hehe.

yeah, that's what I do. I trim it, and then I may change words around, then trim some more.

Sometimes it works.
