Aye there! Thanks for visiting my site Talking about main influences is kinda fuzzy. Everything I see and read influences me in some sort of way. But if I had to name a few favourite artists it would probably be the following:
Edward Gorey for his humour and heartbreakingly cute/evil drawings
the one and only Quentin Blake
Don Rosa for storytelling, he's a genius, there's always so much going on in his panels
Lewis Trondheim for wicked humour
Craigh Thompson for pretty much everything
some manga for big eyes and long legs
But take a look at my favourites, too. There are many sources of inspiration available...

hey thanks, it's kind of a hobby of mine, collecting other people's influences. it's kinda interesting hown far your own style can deviate from those that ya think have a major effect in how you produce and what you produce. Gorey and Blake are the only ones i'm really familiar with. must check the rest of them out soon

No, no m'dear boy. You got the stick on the wrong end. I really, really apprechiate what you think about my drawings. I just wanted to state that you got a very cool and wicked style, too. I am from Germany so my English is probably not that good and leads to misunderstanding. Don't let me be misunderstood.

Schmetterling. But it's more fun if you memorize the words we used as kids (Schmetterling is very hard to pronounce if you're 3 to 4 years old). Those are: LΓΌdeit, MettermΓ€n, Schmeffalin ...

evomc In reply to HopefulMonster [2005-11-15 17:13:02 +0000 UTC]
i am quite partial to Schmeffalin and must use it in a future sentence. THANKYOUUUU!

There are two more I forgot: Miggel and Schmetterlesdings. And I am afraid I made a mistake. LΓΌdeit is actually a word for aeroplane (Flugzeug). Pardonnez moi!

pretty funky, we went through the whole bouncing balls thing when we started. i really like 2d animation but there's a lot to be said for having 3d skills, it's good to have as much techniques as possible in your repertoire if ya know waht i mean. have you seen the gobelins stuff? it's like the best ever!
