Favourite band or musician: autechre

It's fits the profile

Try listening to Aphex Twin, specifically "Surfing on sine waves" album.

2bit color = 4 tones
1bit = 2

1bit of information either 0, or 1
2bits of information either 00, 01, 10, 11

the mac 128, 512, plus, se, se30, classic, and classic two all used 1bit color

i hit up your gallery for some faves. someone in the forums recommended you to me after seeing my digital work. you do very interesting stuff, exploring the nature and meaning of digital.

few comments though:

1. does EVERYONE who has any talent at all love donnie darko or what?

2. i have one those original 2-bit color macs in your icon.

3. are you another artist influence by david carson?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

1bit In reply to arachnophilia [2003-10-23 00:44:38 +0000 UTC]

howdy, i now see you asked things.

uh... i like donnie darko a lot, its quite perfect and works on so many levels. i really like films but really dont like most all films. so i guess i (along with everyone else who has any talent?) was quite excited for a masterpiece to have come out so recently. but i guess the man who wasnt there along with all the other coen brother creations are pretty new and super too.

2. a 2 bit color mac!? i've never heard of one! do you have a special video card or something... if so i'd love to learn what kind and get one. but as far as the mac in my icon (the 128k, 512k, plus, se, se30, classic, classic II) i have many of them.... that is often how i show my newer work... installations on my mac classic II's or SE 30's
but they all have 1 bit video cards except for the color classic which has a 8 bit video card but is in a kinda different box.

3. i do not know who david carson is, but i guess i shouls look into him.

peace

yeah. 2-bit color. black. and white. that's the way the original macintoshes and macintosh pluses were made.

even though the models before it, like the ][ gs (for goddamn slow) had more color.

1bit In reply to arachnophilia [2003-10-26 18:59:25 +0000 UTC]

oh, i see the confusion... yeah, not to be some geekE correcting jerk face nerd, but just so ya know the old mac used 1bit video cards. 1bit= black and white (or whatever two tones you want, bus usualy black and white). 2bit = 4 colors/tones.
1 bit meaning 1 bit of data, so either a 1 or 0... black or white. 2 bit meaning 2 bits of data, so their are 4 different combinations possible with two bit video. 00, 01, 10, 11... so ya get 4 possible tones

i am all about the apple IIgs, it is my most favorite computer ever. it uses a very different kind of video out technology (the same kind of 80 colum in the apple IIe, III, and IIc).... thanks to the ic's the apple IIgs can handle a couple hundred colors. !!!!!!!!! the only catch is that it can only pick to display a few of them at a time. the first macs (with 1bit video) actually had much more advanced technology behind their video out, but it was just in a more primative state, hence the lack of color. cell phone sound worse than regular phones eventhough they are farm more advanced. i guess like that. but the apple IIgs is amazing. not just because its the last of the apple II line... it runs at 8bit 2.8mhz. which is death i guess compaired to the 16bit 8mhz chip in the first macintosh. but every apple II up untill the IIgs used a 1mhz chip, so 2.8mhz was a 3X speed inscreese! and all the apples before the IIgs could not handle any more than 64k ram (128k in the IIe if ya got the expansion kit). the IIgs is technicly capable of using 8 megabytes!!!!!!!!.... this is insane. thats 160 times more than the apples before it! thanks to brilliant engineering by steve woz, the expansion ports are the same as the ram. so smart. the IIgs also had killer audio capabilities for the time and wwas the first apple II or III to use a gui and mouse.
...
oh no, i think i am some geek.
uh sorry, anyway art is nice too.
have a good day

Love your "dot" style photo manipulation, though not sure about the "dot" series without manipulations (I'm assuming?). If art changed when camera was invented, why use a camera to archieve what can be done with computers?

Still I think you have a great sense of composition unique to most people I've seen. Keep up the good work
