I've never really taken any digital art classes myself. I had CAD in high school, but that was easy and has nothing to do with fractals.
Most everything I do in life has been self taught or learned outside of a classroom.

The best way I've come to ditch the jaggys is to set your FilterRadius to 0.72 and leave it that way. Forget about ever changing it again. I have an LCD monitor, and I'm not sure if CRT differs from LCD in this manner, but give it a shot and tell me if that works for you. It's not a cure-all, but it does help tremendously.
