Hello!Β

Thank you so very much for your visit! And thank you so very much for adding my work to your list of favourites. I really appreciate your support! I really like your handiwork, and I hope you don't mind if I keep an eye on what you will come up with next!Β

Well... I call myself a tinkerer, really...Β
I'm not great at specifically anything. But I am rally glad to know you think I am worth keeping an eye on. I really appreciate your vote of confidence. And I hope I won't disappoint you in the future!Β

Many thanks,

Being a jack of all trades is great though, gives you a breadth of skill to combine to make truly new and unique works! Keep at it, you are considerably skilled already, and though we are all aging away, we are all getting better with each piece Β

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to AetherAnvil [2016-11-04 01:30:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your very kind words!Β
For someone who has a day job, I sometimes find it really tough to spend time on my tinkering projects. I try... and this community keeps on dragging me back in. But there's always that fear int he back of my head that one day I'll have to give it up. I hope that day will never come, but it doesn't completely take away that fear.Β

But your kind words warm my heart. And thanks for letting me know that I still have something in the after-burners! Β
So here's to you, my friend. You're a great artisan and a great crafter. And here's to hoping that you'll have more time in the future to craft your masterpieces!Β

AetherAnvil In reply to SinistrosePhosphate [2016-11-04 17:24:36 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, keep up the good fight! So hard to balance craft and work, that sanity is hard to maintain

I really do wish you the best, keep up the cosplay and live free. We may all get stuck in the grind, but those small moments of escapism are so worth it when possible

SinistrosePhosphate In reply to AetherAnvil [2016-11-05 01:26:22 +0000 UTC]

I try, I try!Β
And it hasn't been an easy fight to say the very least. I am afraid to take on big projects now, just because of all the uncertainties at work. Too many things have to line up together in order for me to get a few hours to do anything...

Thanks a million for your very encouraging words, though. It's so very nice to hear it from someone who understands. And the same to you, too! All the best of luck for you and all that you hold dear in the future.

I haven't been do much the past few years, got really sick and everytime I try to get back into it, the passion and energy just isn't there :\ I do agree though, a collab would be very interesting, we are both obsessed with detail! One day I hope because I really do like your works as well!

TigerHouse In reply to AetherAnvil [2016-11-03 16:14:30 +0000 UTC]

Certainly hope you're doing better...one day we'll get our chance yet! (Just so long as you don't mind an Asian aesthetic here n there)

Thanks, I could probably go into more detail but some days I just don't have the time.... And I tend to ramble. But I'm always open to questions and to lend advice.

AetherAnvil In reply to Matsucorp [2014-02-15 19:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Heh, devArt loves them tutorials, should consider doing one! Casting and molding is always tricky, especially with thin wall and mechanical parts. You seem to get some very clean casts! It there a special trick to getting such consistent casts beyond the standard keying and support tricks?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Matsucorp In reply to AetherAnvil [2014-02-15 20:53:14 +0000 UTC]

I think the single most important thing is the prep work. Any flaw will transfer to the casting. So the master has to be perfect.

Not rushing is key. Thinking out your molding strategy prior to molding is important. Also not skimping on silicone is important. Sometimes people cut back on silicone to save money but thin molds never last as long as thick ones do. I always have at least half inch of rubber around all my casts, and at least an inch on the end where the pour hole will be.Β

Predictable I-get-that-all-the-time question: do you sell your "weapons", or is it just for your own pleasure? Not that I could probably afford much more than a steamed-up pocket knife LOL But hey, that'd be cool too...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AetherAnvil In reply to ProfessorBats [2014-02-11 21:37:45 +0000 UTC]

Lol, that is a cool idea, steam pocket knife!! Unfortunately I really just do this stuff for the fun of it, but on occasion, I give or sell. Right now, work is hell, so not really making anything until I am actually home for more than a few days a month... Thank you though!!!

I am glad that it is slowly getting around, just a hobby right now, but it would be cool to be more It is really hard to get any exposure. Are you doing your prop making as a full time job? I am floored by your sheet metal work, it really hits all the best ways to prop build! It is metal, it is very thick and 3D, and it is light'ish! I really like your works!
