Right now, it's mostly down to the arduous process of creating art and playtesting rules. The process could take a year or two to finish unless I hire artists to work with us on the project.

Perhaps, but only after I have a functional game. The idea will be to have a fully functional game that just needs polish to produce. I've already looked over the numbers to confirm how much it would cost to make a very high quality game, and I think it could be a great success once it's ready.

The game is currently under the working name Ascendant. The game is based on young superhero teams that have to work together to deal with various emergencies, villains, and trying to keep their own personal lives under control.

The original game is set in the US, but we're already working on concepts for hero teams around the world, dark and more adult optional additions, etc...

The coolest concept though, is the character expansions. In order to tell the stories of individual characters, we are planning expansion sets that allow the individual heroes to become villains, sustain injuries, get experience, have life changing events, etc... In essence, you can add the expansions and watch the characters grow up, live through their battles, and within the game, tell their own unique stories.

There are some anthro characters, like Garas the were-jaguar, Kodiak who turns into a giant bear, and others. My hope is to actually commission artists from dA to assist in the card art. We are nearly done with the prototype for the game.

It's actually part of a series of pieces based off the Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo. It's a great series of YA novels! If you haven't read them, I'd highly recommend them (not too romance-y, either)!
