Where to start oh my XD

One can reference books and what not, but the best thing is experience of course. With that aside,

The best research comes from reading at your favorite all-time mangas or books. If you are asking about writing: You should note the basic structure. It's great to have creative and cool scenes, but you need to set up to why it makes sense. Connecting the ideas. Show the reader why the character is there by who,what,when,where,why,and how. Then after you connect those answers between the other elements (characters, location, items, etc) you then build the meaty stuff to excite and move your reader. Important things to look up online are character development, story development, plot depth, and themes.

See, there are many things to take into account, such as what genre you want to write in So it's best to read stories similar to what you want to write, and things similar to how you want to write. For me, I wanted Springfield to be more of a Slice of Life with elements of Drama. So watching things like "Angel Beats" or "Clannad" helps me. Though I get bored with one genre too long, I find ways to include others into my story. But that's something else altogether. lmao

bottom line is that you need to closely analyze and read things that you like that are similar to how and what you want to write the most.
