very simple and fun- it's all I use anymore.
i never really learned to vector- but I used to do a "pretend" style of vector- which was really just me using colors and shapes to make pictures- heres an example:

tegaki E looks great but without a tablet I suck.
(That's why I usually use vector or pixel art, it kind of prevents me from drawing ugly shapes.)
By the way, your (other) kanji is just too cute! Can't wait for your contest entry!

yeahhh but i'm a student and i'm pretty much broke right now. I used to suck at drawing by hand, which is why i got interested in digital arts first, but now I always do a quick sketch or two and take a picture of it for (lose) reference.

So yeah i'm really looking forward to buying a tablet, it's just that I'd rather wait until i have enough for a really good one. I'm afraid a cheap one will not be as effective and all that.

So which one do you use? Fortunately, my birthday is in two months, so I might ask my parents the money to buy one!

I have 3 right now- some generic one my husband picked up for cheap thinking he would use it and never did (it works just fine actually.. I have been using it the past 2 tegakis I did and it was ideal) then I have a standard Wacom and a Wacom Bamboo Fun, which is the largest one I've had. and I'm afraid I might have broken it before I left for conference.. I spilled some Miso soup on my desk and.. well... yeah...
it's ok though. my parents dogs ate the stylus to the bamboo fun. I couldn't believe it. I got up for 2 minutes to get something from their kitchen and it rolled down onto the floor- I even knew it happened. but I thought "oh I'll just get it when I come back in." when I got back they were sharing it, like it was some kind of delicious snack. (somehow it still worked.. it was just chewed all to hell on the eraser end.)
Now that I'm back I'm going to hook up the Bamboo fun and see if it works anymore.
oh that reminds me. I didn't finish my entry for the Kanji contest. since I had to leave for my conference on the 29th I just didn't make the deadline. I'll post it when I'm done though.

I think I'll just buy a Wacom Bamboo in a few weeks. I mean i probably don't need a really high tech one as a beginner. Can't wait!

anything wacom makes is going to be quality. I haven't had any problems with any of their products- and I love the program it comes with- it's really simple but thats what I always used to make my "vectors". I don't work well with photoshop and I never learned to use illustrator. :<
