maybe it's just me but i find that the winky emoticon looks weird like a shrunken head or some other sort of unnatural and or uncomfortable thing
your thoughts

C-Mayer In reply to DrValentine [2011-04-22 19:01:14 +0000 UTC]
Hahahahahaha! I have to agree, I use emoticons out of habit while typing and then I'm always thrown off by the result here. I almost did it again >< ahhhh yeah, I like the shrunken head as comparison though, its fitting. Though it could use a small stringy pony tail for added effect.
I am also curious as to why the big smiley face is so suggestive? like, why is it waggling it's eyebrows at me?
And so concludes my thought <---

errrrrr......course not :/
I still doodle sometimes, and i have some business cards and stuff I been doing for people. But like, no paintings or projects for myself, which probably isn't good. I go back to school in the fall though, so ill have plenty to do!

Hahaha good to hear from you again I haven't been back to get my diploma yet. I have been back there, though, but it was to lend Stan one of my old projects to show to the new third years as a demo. Otherwise, life outside Dawson's been alright. I've been keeping myself busy with lots of little projects here and there, a couple of small contracts and, more recently, a new job that allows me to freely pursue art stuff
It's pretty sweet.

Haha it's a background checking company. When you give a job your references, I'm the guy who calls them and tries to figure out if you're any good It's interesting, it pays well and the hours are good, so I can't complain. And I've had a few little contracts here and there. How about you? How's things?

Not much happening on my end. Im mostly just doing all the things i never had time to do when we were consumed by illustration lol.
Im working around 35 hours a week (still at pier 1), and now having access to more money and time, i bought myself a gym membership and i go there like 4-5 times a week. i loooove it . Other than that im saving as much money as i can and planning next year's trip! I plan to go to europe for 2 months
before life gets too serious you know? lol. I have a few paintings ive been meaning to do, but i havent gotten around to it yet
soon! i did finish a jigsaw puzzle though

Frankly, you sound like you're doing mildly better than me I've been terrible about actually getting new art done, except for sketches I put on my blog. I'm currently working on a series of Halloween inspired stuff that's giving me some trouble. I'm glad to hear about the gym, though. That must be making you feel pretty good. I've only been working out at home for the moment, but it's still made me feel better about things in general. And where's this next trip gonna be, anyhow?
Here's hoping you can get some work done on those paintings. Also, have you heard of Terraskin? If not, I imagine you'd enjoy it.
Congrats on the jigsaw. It might sound joking, but I'm being totally sincere. I've never had the patience for those. Puzzles were always my mom's thing, not me.
Say, you think you could get a few pieces done for November? Like maybe 10 things you're proud enough to show off as your own? Let me know.

I could probably get some stuff done for november, i work much better with a deadline otherwise....nothing gets done whatsoever lol! and speaking of halloween stuff, thats a good idea. ive been in such a halloween mood (cause ive been staring at decorations at work since august.....) that im surprised i havent drawn anything yet. i think a spooky tree is order!
and yeah, the gym does make me feel better. There may not be any visible difference but i like the routine and i like at least doing something lol. Illustration was not good for our health you could say
And thankyou for the congrats on the puzzle. Ill be starting a new one as soon as i have the heart to tear the old on up! And I have not heard or terraskin, Ill check it out next time i remember
so tell me about whats happening in november? why should I try and get art done?

Tristan-Despero In reply to C-Mayer [2010-09-27 01:51:39 +0000 UTC]
For starters, November is important because there's an event towards the end of the month called Expozine, where people sell stories and small magazines and comics and especially artwork. Art sells really well as these events and it's pretty cheap for a table. As soon as they update their damn website, I'll let you know.
I think you'd like the idea of Terraskin. It's an artifical paper made out of marble dust and resin. They've got it at just about every Omer at this point. It feels like old leather and has a very interesting texture. It's supposed to be very nice to paint on, a claim I plan to explore very soon.
I look forward to spooky trees.
